ok... so, thus far we have been planning on going with the silver plan and using the "wishes" for our meals.

After just getting back from a vacation with my fiance, I realized that 2 sit-down type meals may encompass too much of our day.. and having a counter meal and a sit down meal may make for a smoother vacation, allowing us to enjoy the parks more... BUT!! I was really looking forward to trying some new restuarants...

What are your thoughts? Yay or Nay to 2 sit-down meals per day?

I think it depends when you go. For example, you can have an early breakfast and a late dinner somewhere and not "waste" park time. Personally, though, I can't do two sit-down meals a day just because I wouldn't be hungry enough! Our typical vacation consists of most dinners out and a couple of lunches and breakfasts out. Everything else is counter service. We also make sure that if we eat two sit down meals in one day we space them out pretty well.

I think it would depend of several factors.
1. How long is your stay? the less time you will be there will mean less time in the parks, therefore you will miss out on rides/parades or whatever while you sit and eat.
2. How often you go. If you go to WDW regularly, then I dont' think it will be bad if you spend this trip relaxing and doing more sit down meals and less rushing. You won't feel like you are missing everything if you know you will be back again soon.
3. What time of year you are going. If the park hours are shorter this will mean less touring time....
4. How much you actually want to be eating. If you stuff yourselves tilly at every meal you are going to want a mid afternoon nap rather than play with Mickey!
5. The location of the restaurants that you want to go to.
if you are spending a lot of time traveling to various places, it will also cut into your time doing other things.

I guess you just need to decide what is the most important to you, and go from there. You may find that some days you could easily do two sit down meals, where others you could just do one.
I think some of the restaurants are good for TWO wishes so you should take that into consideration as well. good luck and have fun!!!!!!:D

We did it once. A sit-down breakfast and dinner with a snack in between. It was TOO MUCH!!!! Too much time and too much food!

I would choose which restaurants you really want to eat at and then do some breakfasts, lunches and dinners. We usually decide on counter service as well. My favorite meals in each park are :

MK-breakfast -CRT or CP, before the park opens!

MGM- lunch . We did H&V (too bad they don't do lunch anymore). Brown Derby is great. This time we are trying Sci-Fi. This is the only park where I NEED a PS. I am so sick of Pizza Planet!

Epcot dinner - love eating dinner and then seeing illuminations!

A nice breakfast at your resort is nice on your last day and on the first day, dinner at Chef Mickey is very popular.

AK- we have only done breakfast at Donald's and it is a lot of fun!
A great start to your day and we usually don't need to eat lunch.

Mix it up and have fun!

We have been able to do two sit downs per day at Disney with no problem.... we normally do the first available seating at breakfast and then a late lunch/early dinner. If we snack throughout the day then there is just no way so we have learned to cut out the snacks and that seems to work out okay. I much prefer a nice air conditioned restaurant for a break from the parks.

Like most wrote, it depends on many factors and what works for you.
When the weather is hot, we like two sit down meals. The lunch is just to go in and cool off and get replenished more than anything. We don't make PS' for lunch.
We eat a very light breakfast though. So a decent lunch usually sounds good. Even a light lunch is nice as a sit down on a hot FL day. :).

If you are going when the parks are open a bit later (8pm+) you could do it for sure. We eat a very light breakfast (fruit or muffin and milk) then have a PS for lunch around 12 or 12:30pm. It takes us about 45 minutes to eat and we do not rush. Then we have dinner around 6:30pm/7pm. This way it has been 6 hours and after that much walking/swimming we are hungry again!

We usually only do 1 sit down a day. We have a few times done sit downs for a big break and a big dinner(ie, Chef Mickeys, Hoop De Doo), but then we dont eat any lunch.

this really does depend on the rest of your plans for the day. we like to get to the parks as early as we can and only eat a small snack in our room for breakfast, so are ready by 11:30 or 12:00 for lunch. we enjoy a sit-down lunch to cool off and relax. since we just can't tear ourselves away from the parks this gives us energy for our next 6 or 7 hrs LOL , so we do a sit-down dinner sometime between 6:30 and 8:30. have fun planning:D

I agree with other posters...it depends on how long your stay is. If you have plenty of time, then 2 per day would be fine. However, I can't imagine having 2 full sit-down meals a day, as I get too excited about "stuff to do & see"!!! ;) :Pinkbounc :bounce:

We did the Silver Plan in Feb. for our honeymoon and were glad that we chose to use our wishes for sit-down meals. If you're not planning on going back to your resort in the middle of the day, a sit-down meal is a nice break from the parks. By the time we were done with lunch we were ready and raring to go again. We usually scheduled an early lunch (around 11:30-12ish) and a late dinner (after 8). The resort and Epcot restaurants are open late even when the other parks close early, so you can take the time to eat without sacrificing park time.

we now average 1 sit-down meal a day (usually either early lunch or early dinner) - our first trip many years ago, we had 2 sit-down meals a day - seemed like our days were scheduled around those meals - besides being too full, it took away time from the parks (and this was in october) - 1 sit-down a day is plenty now for us - plus we like knowing we have one planned, decent meal a day! (and sometimes we've even cancelled a PS or two besides)

Remember that the best restaurants use two wishes. That way you can graze or have a light lunch and then a FAB dinner. You don't have to use a 1 wish lunch and a 1 wish dinner. GO FOR THE TWO WISH DINNERS!

We've done it. We also go with the Early lunch (11:30-12:00) and late dinner (7:30p-8:00p).

Remember that there are excellent restaurants in the hotels as well as in the parks. So if you were in MK for the evening and they are closing at 8p. Get PS's for a late dinner in the Contemporary, Polynesian or Grand Floridian.

Have a great trip!!

We prefer to do two sit down meals. We have breakfast in the rooms since the kids are usually hungry when they are getting ready (breakfast bars, granola bars etc, juice boxes).

We are usually hungry by 11-12am, and really enjoy a sit down lunch. It allows you to get in out of the heat, relax, not fight for a seat, unlimited refills of soda/tea, no carrying food or drinks, no standing in more than one line, the chairs all have backs. It's just way more relaxing. We tried fast food lunches our first year at WDW, and didn't enjoy it.

We do dinner between 6:30-8 usually, depending on where we are and what we had for lunch. We always get plenty of chances to eat at all of our favorites.

We are doing one sit down meal per day. About 3/4 of our Magical Wishes are being used for non-meal related offerings, we are doing three tours and massages.
