Two Shows You've GOT to Watch!

I watched two shows on TLC yesterday that were jaw dropping and yet did not freak me out like Hoarders.

The first was My Strange Addiction. The title says it all, but the episode I watched was about one woman who is addicted to her blow dryer. She sleeps with it in her bed while it is turned on! The other is a woman who can't stop eating toilet paper. She's been eating it for 23 years and prefers the 2 ply kind.

The other was Extreme Couponing. WOW! It was fascinating. One woman spends 70 hours a week searching for and clipping coupons. She went to the grocery store, ran up a bill of $1,072 and after coupons only paid $52 for NINE carts full of stuff. The other lady goes through dumpsters looking for coupons. Her grocery bill was over $600, but after her coupons she only paid $2.93! They both have stockpiles of stuff that looked like they could live on them for years. Amazing.

The couponing show is on again on Jan 4th I think at 10pm.

I recently became addicted to the site Coupon Divas. They were discussed Extreme Couponing today on their FB page. While I could never spend 70 hours a week on coupons, I have been saving quite a bit lately using them.

I love coupons and do pretty well with them too. Coupon Divas and also Mommy Saves Big are my favorite coupon sites, but I sure don't "buy" 40 jars of pasta sauce or 150 candy bars just because I can get them for free.

I find couponing fascinating, as it is just something we don't have here! I have a frugal heart that would love to try it!

I couldn't help but thinking the woman who eats toilet paper should start hanging out with the woman who stockpiles so much of it!

I'm a couponer and a stockpiler too, but that really was extreme!

My new fav TV show is called Oddities. There is a store in Brooklyn called Obscura that sells crazy stuff....like dead cats found under a house, teeth, stuff in jars, Monkey skulls...you get the picture. The thing that makes the show great are the customers and clients. They are a riot. My favorite customer so far is Edgar...6 foot tall, older gentleman with yellow teeth and long arms. He writes plays and talks just like Dracula...."I vant to look at the straight jacket please". It is creepy and funny at the same time.

Saw the advertisement for My Strange Addiction---loved the lady with the puppets. Saw a show one time where a man dressed like Peter Pan--hat and green outfit--all the time and a lady who took a paper statue of a character (like five foot tall, I think from Lord of the Rings) with her every where.
