Two sets of magic bands?

Our next trip is broken up into different resorts. Night 1 is Art of Animation, then 7 nights at Coronado Springs, then 1 night at Pop Century.

We got magic bands for Coronado Springs, but this morning magic bands popped up for AoA as well. Now we have two sets of magic bands to customize.

I don't want to not customize a set, and only one set get sent and it's just gray. So I'm customizing both. Has anyone else had this happen? Did they send you both sets? Seems like we're going to have some problems with this. I would think the reservations could only go to one set. Should we disconnect our names from the other set of bands?

Hi,

Your reservations are actually on the MDE website/database. The band has the chip that communicates with the database. Theoretically, you could have 5 different sets of bands activated, and they all should work.

So I wouldn't worry about having two. Just pick which one you want to use or use both!

If you don't customize them, they will probably send you the gray ones for your second set.

ETA... Just out of curiosity, you said your AOA ones just opened up? What is your check in date?

Yep, that's how it's going at the current time. We have a split-stay coming up and we have received two sets of customized magic bands. Understand that the Magic Band, itself, contains the "means" that connects to your account. (It does not store actual tickets, ADR's etc). As long as any of your bands is activated, it will be able to connect to your account and access your account information (that's where your tickets/ ADRs/ FP+ live)....Your information lives in your account, not your band. The band is merely the access point TO your account. I hope I explained that accurately and invite others to correct me, if I got it wrong, but that's how I understand it. It's all pretty amazing and although there have been concerns/ glitches... it's all pretty remarkable technology. I hope you enjoy your trip and ALL your bands.

Yeah, it surprised me a bit too. I haven't heard of AoA magic bands. I assumed they were Pop, but it clearly says AoA.

We are checking in AoA on 11/29/13.

Also thanks for the help from both of you. DW was torn on her color choice anyway.

I was told by a CM in IT that if you have a split stay you will receive MB for each resort. In the future, this will change, but now the system doesn't understand to link the reservations.

She said you can use either band. Same info on each band.

AoA has been a testing resort for quite some time. It has been live since the beginning of this recent testing phase.

She said you can use either band. Same info on each band.

Just to clarify...the same info is accessible by both bands. There is nothing stored on the bands themselves.

Currently if you have a split stay you get double bands. We also have double bands. I think the plan in the future is to have them linked but right now they are not.

The bands are not assigned to a resort reservation, they are assigned to a guest. Each band has a chip that accesses that guest's information in Disney's database. Guests can have any number of bands assigned to them and they all access the same information. Anything you have linked to your MDE account will be read by your band. If you move resorts, your band will open both doors because it reads your reservations in your MDE account. Personally, I have four bands (from two split stays) and all four work completely.

The eventual plan is to send out one band per guest and you will bring them back trip after trip. Right now, however, they are sending a set with every reservation.
