Two rooms at a moderate or three at a value?

Hi! We're a family of 6 and we would like to plan a trip for 1/7-1/18. We love the CBR but when we saw that POR had upgraded to queen beds....we think we would be willing to give it a try! Prices have gone up though so I thought about a value. But we all want to more comfortable this trip, not less, even to save $$$.

Then, as I was saving a sample trip or two at the wdw site, I thought about trying 3 rooms at a value.

Three rooms at ASMu - a bed for everyone and three bathrooms = pretty luxurious and less $ (about $750!) than 2 rooms at POR. We know the resort since we stayed in the Family Suite a few yeas ago (my husband and I loved it but the kids felt very cramped, compared to 2 rooms at CBR) and wouldn't mind the grounds/pool/etc. being a little less than a mod since we'd be saving money.

I still need to consider Dining Plans (can we do regular plan at a value?), but I was wondering if anyone had done this? My family thinks it sounds crazy but I like the idea of more comfort for less money.

Re: DP, you can do any DP at any resort. If getting FD at value, just pay the difference to upgrade to regular or DDP! Enjoy your trip...We're checking in to POR (first trip at this resort) in 36 days, surprise trip for DS8 and DD4!

I can't tell you which way to go but I can tell you what are doing. We are also a family of 6. Our kids are 18, 13, 11, 8 and the oldest is the only boy. So, we are getting two rooms at Port Orleans-Riverside. The oldest two get their own beds in the second room. The younger two will sleep in a bed next to DH and I. We wanted the style and theme of the POR better then the Value's. I really wanted something that seemed more relaxing to me because the Value's seemed VERY theme oriented and it was a little much for me. I want some place quiet to come back to after a crazy day in the parks.

Unless you have really older kids, I would stick with 2 rooms instead of two. Whether you decide to go with the Value OR the Moderate, two should be fine.

We went last year and got two rooms at Wilderness Lodge. Two bathrooms were perfectly fine and the sleeping arrangements worked well.

Good luck.

Kind of hard to pass up the 3 value rooms. Everyone gets their own bed and you save $750?? That savings would go a long way to paying for the DDP. We usually stay at mods, but with those savings I'd be mighty tempted to stay value. Especially if you're the kind of family who spends most of the day in the parks anyway. We find that in the winter months we seldom take those long afternoon breaks at the resort.

My children are 21, 19, 14 (by then!) and 12, and the 12yo is the only boy. At ASMu I would put one big and one little in each room and then it wouldn't matter if the rooms were not connecting! If we did POR we would have the girls in one room and my son in with us. Boy, I would love the privacy three rooms would give us...but my husband and I do sleep better in a Queen....but the Value is cheaper....but they have not announced Free Dining dates (if any) for January...still thinking!

Well, at least it doesn't seem as crazy now! Thanks for your replies.

If you do the three value rooms, request one of them be a king bed! Dh and I have stayed at pop twice with our son who still sleeps in a crib. Both times we requested a king room and got it, which is nice for us and makes much more space for ds to play and for his pack n play! Once they had it for us at check in, the other time they didn't have us in one, but I asked and they moved us (all at the desk when www checked in). They don't cost any more than the other rooms, but they're a request, not a guarantee.
