Two Reservations For Same Time Period?

after talking to MS, set me straight please

I secured my res for October @ WL, would be happy to stay therebut, after hearing my from kids how great BLT was last Dec; i'd like to check it out myself.

Q i posed to MS was:

If the entire week isn't open @ BLT @ the 7 month window when i call...can i keep the WL res & do a day by day one @ BLT (naturally with enough points to float both reservations in my account)?

I was told not possible. I've done this in the past without issue, have the rules changed? I'm familiar w/change of only being able to WL 2 different cat of room, etc.; may be i missed this or was just lucky in the past.

The waitlist change wasn't just a restriction to 2 different categories of rooms - it was a change to only 2 waitlists so that would restrict you to two individual days in your scenario. However, they also now want waitlists to be for the full length of stay unless you just have a day or two to fill in although there have been some conflicting reports with this were a CM has done a day by day waitlist if two consecutive days were needed.

My thought was that if during a 5 day period & only 1 or 2 days were missing @ BLT we could take what was open & WL for the other 2; while keeping our original WL res until BLT came thru

MS has not been allowing multiple reservations under the same names for the same dates. If you can make the different reservations under different names, there should not be a problem - make under your name and the other under your spouse's name, leaving each other's name off of the respective reservation.

The "logic" behind the policy is that the same people can't occupy more than one villa at a time. I suspect this may also be related to the apparent policy changes aimed at rental activity, but nothing official has been published about the reason for these changes (and there was never anything in the written policy about it in the first place).

Sorry - I thought you were referencing a waitlist problem. As Doc said - just use a spouses name since the problem you are running up against is the "rule" of only one reservation per name. That now even spills over the any CRO reservations. You are not supposed to have a DVC reservation and a CRO one for the same time.

The double booking restriction is from Disney and DVC MS has apparently embraced the policy.

Disney CRO Guests who couldn't make up their mind of where or when to stay, would book several different reservations. This would make managing the room inventory very difficult. The situation would only get worse when the Guest would cancel the extra reservations.

The fix is to put different names on the reservations as noted, you can always change them later.

Wait - does this mean I am not allowed to book 2 Studios in my name for my upcoming trip? I am new to DVC and this is kind of confusing! My name is the only one on my contract, my fiance's name is not on the actual paperowrk, but we want a room for us and one for his parents....

A few years ago Disney changed their system to not allow multiple reservations in a single name. You can book 2 studios but just have them in different names. Just select someone in the family if you're not fairly sure who'll be where. You can adjust the names later. That being said, I don't know that there's any formal rule against it anywhere and I'm sure it happens all the time. Heck, I have 8 units across BCV & BWV for the same week in Sept and they're all in my name right now until I figure out who's going and who's not.

As a member you can book the room in any name, it doesn't have to be yours. Put the extra studio in his parents name. You still maintain control of the reservation.

Whew - Ok I understand now....I was just a tad bit stressed out for a second!

Well this is not good news for me I have a reservation for the Fort for 7 nights because the boys are dead set about camping at Disney World but I also have 2 nights at BLT mid-vacation because there is just no way I am staying in a tent in June for a whole week . Both reservations have to be in my name since I am the only Adult........hmmmm sure hope the don't cancel my CRO reservation.

Were those booked with DVC points or exchanges? I decided to book a room thru CRO and had one night overlapping with DVC. The CM saw this and had to put me on hold to get permission to do the booking. They did do it but I'm not certain what I promised to get it done.

All are exchanges, some through RCI weeks and others through RCI points. I currently have 4 units at BCV all 1 BR plus one 2 BR and 4 at BWV, two each 1 & 2 BR. I'll add names to each at some point as we know who's going and who's not.
