Two reservations and want to stay in same room for entire stay - online check in, yes or no?

Because of a discount we could only get for part of our stay, we have two different reservations for our upcoming stay at the BCV the week after Christmas. I know it's not guaranteed that we will be able to stay in the same room and not have to move. I've put a request on the reservations to not have to move. Is it better for us to do online check in and reiterate that request, or should we do check in when we arrive so I can talk face-to-face with a cast member about this request? I'm wondering if we did online check in how we would even know if we would have to move until the day the reservations change.

It doesn't matter if you do online check in or if you don't. Your room is assigned prior to your arrival no matter what.
You've done all you can do to increase your odds of staying in the same room. It's out of your hands now.
Plus, nothing stops you from going to the front desk even after you've done online check in. You are allowed to do both
When you arrive for the first stay I would stop at the desk and ask

You should stop at the desk when you arrive to make sure that they have kept you in the same room for the second reservation. That way they will have a chance to search for an available room that you can stay in if they didn’t already do it when assigning rooms Sometimes they can’t keep you in the same room, though.

I have an upcoming dual reservation for one stay coming up as well. In my case I’m in club level so I was able to ask someone. She said the room assigners take note of people with the same names with adjacent stays. She said they prefer, because it’s tontheir advantage as well, to keep you in the same room. This is less likely if you don’t have the same room classification. Good luck!

I’ve been dealing with this too. I was told we would have to check out and back in again no matter what, even if it was still the same room. I was given a specific date to call back on to make the request that we stay in the same room. I plan on calling, and I plan on stopping by the front desk as well.

True but that doesn't mean vacating the room, just so you know. It's done in their computer
One trip we were in bed when my phone got a message about 6:05 that our room wasn't quite ready and than again at 6:10 with our room number, of the room we were in. They'd done the turn over of their computers and checked us out and back in of the same room right then. I went back to sleep.

Thanks AngiTN.

That’s nice to know. They acted on the phone like we had to go to the front desk, but that’s phone reps for you, you get a different answer to the same question everytime you call.

Some resorts do ask you to stop by the front desk. Poly I think, was one that asked us to stop by. CR didn't, and the time we got the text was at BWI. Not sure I can remember all the others. But, they'll let you know when you check in if they want you to stop by or not.

We had the same issue for the same reason coming at the same time. I am on the phone with them now and they are combining the reservations. We have done this before so we knew it could be done. They just have to call the resort directly to do it. It is all under one reservation number now.

Edited to add: I am off the phone now. It only took 57 minutes to get that all taken care of. Might be better to leave it as is.

You are still lucky. I called like 4 times and every time they told me they couldn't combine my reservation. I finally got tired of arguing with them and just gave up. We'll see what happens.
