Hi all
I'm back with two more questons.
What is the difference between category 8 and 9. As first time cruisers, I'm assuming there is a reason for the difference in price and it has to do with the deck the rooms are on -- but is there a disadvantage of being on decks one and two?

Second, has anyone booked through expedia - their prices seem to be much better than booking directly. What's up with that?

Thanks in advance.

I don't have experience with booking a cruise through Expedia - However, when I booked a room through them at a casino/resort in Palm Springs was "guaranteed" a 2 queen bed room for DH and DDx2. When we got there, they told us that they didn't have that room. That Expedia gets "whatever is left over" and all they had was a handicap access, king bed room. They rolled in an extra twin and said it was "big" so would be comfortable for both of our girls to sleep on (they are 8 and 10). Ended up having 3 in the king bed and 1 on the twin roll-away. :earseek:

Anyway, it is my understanding that Expedia offers low prices because they have NO control over what kind of room/reservation you're actually going to get. Personally, I would not book a cruise through Expedia - unless I really didn't care where they put me - just so long as I was on the ship. :confused3

My 2 cents....

I've had very good experience with Expedia and hotel vacations..so I was hoping to hear from anyone with personal experience booking DCL via expedia. Thanks for your thoughts.

Hi...we booked our cruise through Expedia and had absolutely no problems. I watched these boards like a fanatic and was somewhat worried after reading about other agencies losing docs. and not sending them in time. Not the case w/ Expedia. I recieved mine almost 3 weeks prior to departure. I called them numberous times w/questions and even had my table and seating time changed during the last month. They were always friendly and eager to help me. Also, I have to dispute one of the previous posts...we were able to pick the exact room we wanted, down to the room number. Others in our group who booked w/ another popular agency didn't find out their room numbers until they got to the terminal. Also, I hunted for the best price and found Expedia to offer the best price for my time frame and catagory. Good luck!

I booked a DCL cruise last year and had good luck. I only booked the cruise though, I did my own car/hotel/airfar. Everything was taken care of and I never had to call with any questions or problems. I also found the best deal through them at that time. I am one to shop around so I was willing to go with whom ever offered the best deal. This time I booked with DU and so far have found that their service and website is SO much more personalized. So if you are looking for that type of thing, Expedia might not be a great choice. To them, you are just a reservation number.

Location location location.......

All of the Cat 9's are on Deck 2 ...

We also booked thru the company mentioned.. for other things not a cruise .
should be fine once they give you a room number , that is it. :teeth:

The other cat 8's are on other decks higher than deck 2...
yip you are paying for location.. if you are happy to have the window and lower price go with deck 2..
If not book something else... :teeth:
