two questions: maximum number in group with DAS? multiple DASs in one group?

If all goes to plan, we'll be in WDW this summer.

The last time we were there, we were only a group of 8, so all of us were included in my son-in-law's DAS.
At the time (2017), they told us that 8 is the maximum number of people who can be together on the DAS.
Is that still true?

I ask because we're now a group of 9 (grandparents, our kids and their spouses and 3 grandchildren).
Would all 9 of us be able to be on one DAS?

And for the second question, unrelated to the above.
My husband is in treatment for stage 4 cancer.
I'm thinking he'll probably also need a DAS, though i don't know how much of the parks he'll be able to do (given the surface of the sun temps in Orlando in July).
But assuming we did want to get him a DAS, can there be two DASs in one group?

I mean, if all 9 of us were going to ride on something together, i would assume we would all be in one group on one DAS.
but if we were in two groups on two separate things then we would be on two different DASs,
I'm probably overthinking, but i'm already so very worried about this trip, i can't help but overthink.

I should add that we're planning on getting genii+ for all the parks (it's the way it's added onto the UK ticket - it's all or nothing, you can't pick and choose a day).
So we'll combine DAS and genii+, though we are already saying that we're just going to try to tone down this trip as we're hearing so many negative things about crowd levels, that we might spend a lot more time out of the parks than we usually do.

Sorry about your husband.

The usual number for DAS is 6 (5 plus the person with a disability who is registered for DAS). Anything over 6 is an exception which may or may not be allowed. The closer the number is to 6, the more likely it seems to be approved; the members of the group also seems to make a difference - family group vs unrelated group.
I don’t know if guests from the UK are able to use the video chat registration for DAS; many people in the US who have done it were told no more than 6 total and if they have more in their group, they would need to request adding them in a park.

A guest registered for DAS can‘t be linked to another DAS. Other guests linked to one DAS can be linked to a second DAS - it doesn’t really matter much if they are linked to more than one DAS since each guest can only have one active DAS Return Time. So, if your husband and son-in-law are both registered for DAS, they will each need to get a DAS Return Time for each attraction they want to go on.

thanks for the information.
actually thinking it through, it doesn't make sense to get a DAS for my husband.
He'll only possibly go on rides when we're all together with the entire family..
and usually he and i end up sitting out the rides with the youngest grandkids anyway, which is fine with us....
we get our enjoyment watching the family enjoy everything...
so only my son-in-law needs it....we were hoping he'd be ok without it this time, but we just were on holiday here at home and he was in really bad shape again, so there's not much choice there for him...
i'm guessing if we combine genie+ and DAS it will be not too bad for him....hopefully..
though as on all trips to WDW, he'll probably end up resting at the resort at times when the rest of us are in the park...
but that's ok.... at least we're all together most of the time.
