On the Deluxe DP, are there a lot of appetizers that have to be shared across two people, or is it an appetizer is an appetizer, and everyone gets one? -- the Sanaa bread service comes to mind.

90% of the time, if the menu says "for two" then two people need to order it and two people's credits are used toward it. But, it never to hurts to ask once you're sitting at the table, because you never know.

If it says for two expect to have to use two people's worth of credits.

Same w entrees for two. Like yachtsman, two people order, using 4 credits for that option

Unless paying cash, don't expect ant leeway here

... but it can happen (for appetizers and desserts, not entrees). Just... don't count on it.

I've never heard of it happening. Has anyone experienced this?

I've read a few reports here on the DIS, but we're talking miniscule compared to how many people just use the two persons' credits. That's why I used 90% in my answer; it has happened, but it is definitely a handful of pixie dust!

Is the policy on this relatively consistent now? We had a bad experience with this at Raglan Road once - we were prepared to only have two for-two appetizers for our party of four adults, but we were very surprised when the waiter told us the for-two apps weren't DxDDP eligible at all and that we had to order four single-serving appetizers.

I can only share personal experience here.

I think the last time we purchased the DDP, which has been several years ago, we were at T-Rex for lunch on our departure day...my wife, son, and me. We wanted to get the chocolate extinction dessert, and were told no, because that dessert requires 4 people's dessert credits (which it does say "for four" on the menu). It's virtually the same dessert as the sparkling volcano at Rainforest Cafe, which is "for three", and requires 3 dessert credits to order...which we had earlier in the trip...just a slightly different presentation.

So, from personal experience...not "I've heard" this or that...they can be fairly rigid on the "for two...etc" wording on the menus. Never hurts to ask, though.

That said...I do not believe the bread service app at Sanaa has the "for two" etc wording attached to it. We had dinner there two months ago, and although we don't do the dining plan, that kind of thing usually catches my eye.

My dad and I were allowed to order separate appetizers on the deluxe dining plan at Liberty Tree Tavern and one of them was the seafood dip for two.

I have, but a long time ago (2008), and one of the restaurants where it happened was Raglan Road where we later had problems in the other direction. I chalk it up to early confusion about the DxDDP. We used it the very first month it was offered, and encountered a lot of oddities on that trip as they worked out the details.
