Two Part Question Regarding Disney Water Park?

1) Which would you suggest Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach for a 10 year old?

2) Best use of funds with a two day theme park ticket. Make it a park hopper and more or add a day for just the water park?

Short trip but son really wants to do a water park. Two theme park days are Epcot / MK. Only have 1 more open day.

1) I would go Typhoon Lagoon since it has the better wave pool and more diverse rides than BB

2) You have to price out adding park hopper plus more versus water park ticket. If you already had park hoppers, it’s definitely cheaper to add the plus more than buying water park ticket.

The water parks are open 10-5. So it would be easy to go to water park and then Epcot afterwards. I would make MK a full day of touring since there are way more attractions there compared to Epcot.

When our son was little, after much time spent watching videos, and reading descriptions, we chose Typhoon Lagoon to take him to. Of course, I have no idea if that was really any better than Blizzard Beach, but he did have a good time at Typhoon Lagoon, and we felt from the research we did, that there would be more there he could really enjoy.

As for best use of funds, addig the park hopper plus to get water park admission will cost you $80 per ticket. Simply paying for a water park admission will be $69 per ticket. So, unless you have a need for the ability to park hop, it would be less expensive to just buy the one day water park admission.

Which water park will depend entirely on your 10 year old. Good swimmer? Likes big slides and big waves? Both parks have big slides, in fact BB has the bigger of the two in Summit Plummet, as well as Slush Gusher. Has fun tube rides too, like DDD, and mat racers which is fun. It also has the more gentle of the two wave pools. The waves there are constant, but relatively small. It's like bobbing in the ocean. TL has a big slide, Humunga Kowabunga. It's advantage over Summit Plummet is that it can take 3 people at a time vs. 1, but IMO it's not quite as thrilling. TL has Crush Gusher, which is sort of like a tube ride "roller coaster", it's a lot of fun. The biggest stand out at TL is the wave pool. Waves only come once every couple of minutes, but they're enormous. It's a lot of fun. If he's not a good swimmer, stay in the very shallow part, as the waves are quite strong and if you're going to go in chest deep you need to be a good swimmer.

Really, I'd bet he'd enjoy either. I love them both equally, but if I absolutely had to pick one it would be TL simply for the wave pool.

What Klayfish said, although for me the wave pool gets old after a few times. Personally my daughter enjoyed BB much more at age 10 due to the greater variety of slides than those at TL. We both enjoyed Crush n Gusher at TL but she didn't care for the long waits (a bit more than the for the slides at BB). Also, BB has a great raft ride, Teamboat Springs. But you may need to ask another group of 2-4 people to join you, since it has a minimum of 4 (max of 6) people. Well worth it though.

Can you tell I prefer BB over TL?

We all prefer TL. DD9 could spend most of the day just in the wave pool!

You can't really go wrong with either. TL is smaller and has the rougher wave pool. BB has more thrilling slides. We took my 9 and 6 yo to BB last summer and they loved it. The tween area (name is escaping me) was a big hit and we could let them run around the area while we watched from chairs in the shade. It was great!
