Two New Ticket Offers for DVC Members!

Did anyone else notice the date on the voucher in post #92...damn, I want that deal!

So confused and need advice. I had a Premier Passport (Disneyland and WDW) that expired in last October. I did not renew then as I wasn't getting back to the USA parks until this October. I want to get the Premier Passport again (must be purchased in person at the parks). So I can get my FPs, I planned to buy a WDW 5 day ticket from UT, get my FP on MDE and then upgrade once I had used the ticket.

As there is no special price (discount) for the Premier Pass, I think that is the best option. Unless someone can show me an alternative?

There is no DVC discount for the Premier Passport, it is going to largely depend on what level of pass you need for DL to know whether you save money getting the Premier or not. We had the Premier for a couple years, but now we do separate passes because we are fine with a Gold pass for WDW (with this deal platinum plus) and Deluxe at DL so it is cheaper to do separately, even if we were doing the Signature level we would get them separately for ease of use. I don't like the restrictions for in person purchase/renewal for the Premier, and have found it to be more trouble than it is worth in a few instances, so I stick with the separate passes now, but you really just need to run the numbers based on your DL pass needs.

Question...
three weeks ago I purchased two Platinum passes at the DVC rate of $679 each before tax. They haven't been activated yet. Any chance I can go to guest services and get an upgrade to the Platinum Plus pass AND a refund of $120/ticket? :)
I called member services and they said I could, but it sounds too good to be true, so I thought I would ask the experts!

Thanks,
Stacey

I'm kind of in the same boat, but we purchased Platinum AP in Dec we would like to upgrade to the Platinum Plus AP in Aug. I called DVC again today and was told Platinum AP can't upgrade only Gold AP can upgrade. The rep told me to call Disney and speak with the tickets department. I called them, the CM explain its up to the person working in guest relations. If they upgrade me, it's considered a downgrade and I would get a refund for the difference of the ticket.

So who knows if we can upgrade, I did see someone on DVC Facebook stating they have the Platinum AP, they upgraded for free and was given a Disney gift card.

It would be nice, but those are just "activate by" dates.

Apparently they sold a lifetime pass for $100 in 1971, but most people at the time thought it was way too expensive.

It still seems inconsistent with the offered deal, which says activation is required by 12/31/2018. I'm guessing that's because the original Gold pass voucher had the normal activation date, and in the upgrade process the new date didn't get applied.

Add us to the list of people taking the bait! We were going to take a year off from Disney, but instead have figured out a way to fit in four trips for 24 days in the parks starting Columbus Day 2018. Looking forward to some waterpark days.

You can't upgrade a UCT ticket now unless you are at Disney world currently. They do not upgrade tickets from third parties over the phone. You will have to do it in person. Old tickets (ie those without expiration dates) are only supposed to be worth the gate price on 2/11/17 toward the upgrade. This had been confirmed numerous times by various Disboards posters since the price increase this Feb including a poster who works at Epcot in ticketing.

FYI we upgraded pre-feb UCT 10 day hopper tickets to a gold AP and it only for $27 each. The CM first bridged our tickets to current gate price then did the upgrade. So it can happen but you do really need to get an awesome CM.

I upgraded my pass today and tomorrow is my last park day. I just checked my photo pass pictures and it now appears I don't have them free. I assume since I upgraded today it appears I bought the pass today and not a month ago when I bought the gold pass. Guess I'll need to make a call to photo pass.
Did you get that straightened out??? I have a friend that just activated her gold pass on July 1st. They leave tomorrow and she wants to upgrade before leaving but is scared something will happen to her photo pass pics.

Ah - good point there. The 7 for 5 pass has the correct date, but you're right, the AP should say 12/31/2018. Weird. I can't believe they'd make a mistake or have a bug like that. That's so unlike Disney! ;)

She'll have to complete that exchange ("upgrade") at park entrance guest services. I don't see why it would affect the photopass pics, but she could simply log on from a PC right now and download the bundle with just a few clicks just to be safe. It's pretty easy to do.

Just for fun, tell her that they transfer the photopass pics to the next guest in line after you upgrade, so she should make sure someone creepy isn't behind her. I bet that'll go over well.

Ha ha funny!! I will see if any of them has their laptop with them.

Glad you got a deal. I just wanted the poster I responded to to know that policy is to only give credit for the pre 2/12 price (confirmed by @ravenclawtrekkie who works at Disney in ticketing) so that is all they should expect. If they get lucky like you did that is bonus :)

I asked this question in a new thread but haven't gotten any responses, so I thought I would also ask here. Does anyone know if the new Platinum Plus DVC deal only has one price (as if a new AP) or is there a lower "renewal" price. We would be renewing from a FL resident AP.

Thanks for any advice.

Does anyone know when tickets prices for 2018 will increase? I can't remember when they did for 2017. I am trying to decide if I would come out cheaper by buying an AP for our July 2018 trip. I want to be able to take advantage of this deal if possible!

Nobody knows when prices are going up (or if the work for Disney and do they probably can't say). This year ticket prices went up on 2/12/17 and that's when the expiration date for all new multi day tickets sold was instituted. I beleive that is also when the AP had a small price increase as well (gold AP went up $10 (and the platinum/platinum plus I think went up like $20 or $30). The last AP price increase prior to that was the big one in early Oct 2015. That's when they started including memory maker in the price and offering the gold AP.

For DL, I need the DL Signature Select passport as I usually make quick weekend runs down to LA area. I did run my numbers (not using this offer) and it comes out better to buy the Premier Passport. I guess I need to look at this offer as well and re-run the numbers.

It messed up my photo pass when I did the upgrade. When you do upgrade it appears the annual pass was just bought and did not have the waiting period for photos. Don't you have to purchase memory maker three days before you enter into park. Anyways, a phone call to photo pass fixed it. I did not lose any photos in the process.

That's just a design glitch with their software, which is why they were able to restore the photos when you called. The 3-day advance memory maker is just for the slightly discounted $149 price vs $169 the day-of. (And that price is only for people that don't have at least a gold AP where it's included.)

I have my AP Gold vouchers (w/13 months on them from the last promotion) that I was going to activate on our next trip in October. They were going to get us through this year and then next May and October since they have 13months tied to them. Any ideas if I will be able to 1 - upgrade to the Platinum Plus, and 2 - keep the 13 months if I upgrade after activated? Or are these questions going to be the wait and see type ones.

Did you find an answer to this. I'm in a situation similar
