Saturday 3/1
We woke up at 8am and while Lumar was in the shower I flipped on the weather channel to see what the day would be like: 78 and sunny!
There was a major storm traveling the Midwest though, that was scheduled to dump tons of snow on parts of Texas and then head up into the Ohio area. The northeast would be getting lots of rain.
We left the room at 9am. It was such a beautiful day, I was glad we were going to be at Epcot. For some reason I took a lot of pictures of flowers today, so be prepared.
When we arrived, we headed straight for The Land Pavilion. There was a CM at the entrance who said she loved my Darkwing Duck shirt! We got fastpasses for Soarin’ then we ate breakfast at Seasons. We both had French toast which was really good but we still had about 25 minutes before our return time so we left and went over to Figment.
No wait (as usual)
so we rode through once, wandered through the Kodak Lab/gift shop for a few, and as we came out of the building I saw this:
I was so excited to meet Figment! And of course, he wasn’t really there. There was a sign on the door that said he would be back at 4:30pm. It was like 10am… why bother putting the sign out??
We went back to Soarin’ and I have to say that, seriously, this is my favorite ride in all of WDW. I just wish that the line didn’t take so long. Even with FP’s you still have to stand around for like 20 minutes. That kind of sucks, but I’ll deal with it. I was wondering though while we were waiting…you know how they bring you down away from the main line, right before they tell you which arrows to stand on? Why does it look like you’re in a basement? There is no ceiling or decorative cover-ups or anything. Just pipes, wires, and vents
Usually everything in WDW has a purpose, everything is decorated a certain way for a reason, but this one I just can’t figure out.
So anyway, after Soarin’ we walked back towards SSE and walked through the Art of
Disney store looking at all the cool stuff we wish we could afford, then went and got in line for SSE. Yes, I said a line. The wait was like 20 minutes! FOR SSE! That’s one reason why I hate it when they rehab rides. But for anyone that hasn’t gotten to ride it yet since the rehab, you’ll be happy to know that they didn’t change any of the scenes except the one at the end where the two kids were in different countries talking to each other through the TV. They eliminated that scene and replaced it with a classroom set-up. The track is much smoother and you can actually hear Judi Dench tell the story. I feel bad for Jeremy Irons. He got jipped IMO because the tracks were so loud before you couldn’t even hear him talking. They added in touch screens to the each car which are kind of annoying because it’s dark in there and the screens are bright, so it kind of has the effect of someone taking a picture with the flash on while riding Haunted Mansion…. AND you’ll also be happy to know that the Rome scene still smells like burnt hotdogs!
After SSE, we stopped for ice cream at the Edy’s shop next to Club Cool and a CM in there also complimented the Darkwing Duck shirt
As we ate our ice cream, we walked towards World Showcase and I noticed a couple of HUGE fish in the lake and a couple of turtles, as well. We watched them a few minutes while we finished eating, then continued our walk. We skipped Canada and France, but stopped in the UK where I got a box of assorted tea for my mom. I hope she likes them. She and my step-dad have tea at least twice a day, but they only drink the American stuff. I hope they like the ones I picked up for them. They had a really cute Bunny teapot that I wanted to pick up for my friend Brandee, who watches my bunnies while we’re gone, but the only one they had was the display, which was chipped.
We kept going and we passed a girl I went to high school with. We played on the volleyball team together but we weren’t close friends or anything – plus I haven’t seen her in like 10 years so I didn’t say anything to her. I just thought it was funny to see someone I knew in Florida. We ended up in Japan – nerd central! Lumar and I bought a couple packs of Pokemon cards, and I also got some Hello Kitty stuff while were there.
We left Japan and went back to Morocco so Lumar could use the bathroom. He’s lactose intolerant and just ate ice cream….. we were there for a while...
Around 12:30pm we stopped at the American Adventure for lunch. I got a cheeseburger and Lumar got a hotdog, and after eating we continued walking around towards Mexico. WE stopped in Norway and got fastpasses for Maelstrom, then walked through the shops. I was desperate for some lotion – my hands and feet were so dry – and I knew that they sold stuff like that in Norway. I found a blue bottle of lotion that smelled really pretty…but it was FORTY TWO DOLLARS! FOR LOTION?!? Um…no. I’ll suffer for now, thank you very much.
We went over to Mexico and wandered around inside the Plaza de los Amigos for a while but didn’t buy anything. I’m the kind of person that sees something I like, picks it up and walks around with it for a while and then decides not to spend the money on it. I found a cute ceramic turtle and a ceramic bunny that I like but after walking around with them for 20 minutes, I put them both back and we left.
On our way back to Norway, I stopped and got a strawberry margarita. HOLY MOLY was that thing strong!!
Lumar drank most of it for me. (Sorry, Buzz, I tried!)
After Maelstrom, we went back to Japan for more Pokemon cards (do you believe me now when I say we’re nerds??) and Lumar said he was hungry. It was only 5:30 and our Biergarten ressie wasn’t until 6:55pm. I was feeling pretty hungry myself and we both knew we weren’t going to make it until 6:55pm so we cancelled our ressie and went over to Nine Dragons instead which was open despite the fact that it was supposed to closed for refurb. It was really busy in there and at that point I turned to Lumar and said that we should have checked with them before canceling our dinner reservation. I know, my timing is impeccable
They were able to seat us since we were only two people and our food was so good. The service was perfect, too, and we were really happy we came here. We ordered the Pot Stickers for an appetizer and we both had General Tso’s as our entrée. Sorry, once again, I forgot pictures. Don’t worry, I have some food porn towards the end of the week.
After dinner, we walked back towards the entrance to World Showcase and stopped in one of the stores there (Gateway Gifts or something like that)
and then we left around 7:30pm. We had wanted to stay for Illuminations but we were feeling kind of tired so we headed back to the bus.
Since I couldn’t wear my regular Crocs, I wore the Crocs Flip-Flops instead and since I hadn’t worn those since October my feet weren’t used to them and they killed my toes. They were all swollen and red, and guess what? Yeah, another blister.
I went down to the gift shop, Jackson Square, and picked up some band-aids, Neosporin type stuff, and some lotion (yay!!) Went back to the room and I tended to my poor feet while watching Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets then went to bed around 12 when the movie was over.
