My son and I each own DVC same UY and same home resort. could he book 2 nights then I book 4 nights and not have to move?

While not guaranteed, you can do that, and both of you have them note it is a continued stay and the reservation number of the other,

They will try to keep it the same. At check in, I would double check so that if you are not, you can get it switched then if they can.

I book on both my memberships and have not yet had to move.

I would make the lead guest the same, and then tell the front desk at check in. They will try to keep you in the same room, because they would rather not have to clean it.

My friend and I both talked to MS when we made the reservation, don’t know if it helped, but we didn’t have to move, and they actually brought the new key cards to us. This was at Aulani.

Just ask MS to link or note the opposite reservation number on each reservation. You should be fine.

You both would do a three way call into MS and authorize to have the reservations linked as a continuing stay. The names on both reservations must be the same - MS can fix that if they are not. Then at check in verify with the front desk that you have 2 reservations linked as a continuing stay and that you want verify they have you staying in the same room. It's rare that it can't be done. We do it quite a bit between our own 2 UY's. Of course as was mentioned you can also transfer points to one of the memberships.

It's really easier to do a transfer and then book it as one reservation...but as Deb & Bill said, the points being transferred can't be banked or borrowed points, they have to be current use year points. They can, however, be banked after they are transferred by the member receiving them.

We've done this several times for an Aulani stay. We just call MS to make the reservations and then have them linked. No problem on being moved mid-stay.

A down side to transfer suggestion is that you are limited to one per year. So, if you do that you can't book a similar reservation until the next year. Might not be a problem for you, but needs to be considered.

As noted you can just have MS link the two reservations if the guests on them are the same. Though a transfer could accomplish a single reservation, it creates an issue if, for any reason, the trip gets cancelled, i.e., transferred points cannot be returned to the transferor.
