Two Kids, One or Two Strollers?

Our daughter will be 1 year 11 months; our son will be 4 years 10 months.

Should we plan to bring one or two strollers for WDW? Thanks!

I don't think you can go wrong - whatever is your preference or is most comfy for your kids. I always find the single strollers easier to fold and deal with, but there is a convenience factor in having just one stroller to keep track of. The first year my family visited WDW, we had a double AND a single to keep up with our little ones......and sometimes they were moved apart from each other when CMs rearranged strollers.

Do you have a double? That would be the easiest. We rented a double at WDW when our girls were 3 and 6. It was so nice to always know where they were at in a crowd and no whining about being tired. If you are planning to bring from home, maybe I would just haul one and then if your son gets tired you could rent him one.

This year when they are 5 and 8 we may try going without or we may get a single to share on the more strenuous days. It's nice just to have it to hold our backpack!

We made the mistake of bringing only 1 stroller when my DD was 4 and her sister was 16 months. It was a mistake. We ended up renting one most days especially at Animal Kingdom and Epcot. We are headed back next week and bringing two strollers--one for our 13 mth old son and one for our 3 1/2 yr old. There is just so much activity and walking that they need that rest. Plus, you can get around the crowds faster in the strollers than with a slow walker. Good luck!

I definitely think you need a stroller for both of them, but if your question is whether 2 singles or one double is easier, there are advantages to both. Two singles gives you the flexibility to split up without someone having to walk or being left without a sippy cup/diaper/sunscreen in a crisis (we always seemed to not have whatever we needed for the kid we were with). It also keeps the kids apart if they tend to fight or lets one sleep without the other bothering him jumping in and out or moving around.

However, seemed like when we had two singles, inevitably, someone wanted to be carried and then the other parent was stuck trying to push two strollers or the parent carrying a kid was pushing a stroller as well. If you doubt your 4 year old will sleep, I might assume he could walk if needed (if you split up) and use a double stroller so only one parent was tied up with pushing. Good luck!

We're going to do two strollers. DD will be almost 3, DS will be almost 5 when we go in April/May. DS has a lot of endurance, so I'm thinking he'll walk a good part of the time, but we want to have one there for when he needs it. We also want to be able to split up if needed. We'll be taking our larger single stroller (Graco Metrolite) - we can put stuff underneath in the basket, etc. The other will just be an umbrella stroller. I figure if DS wants to walk, we can fold it up and place it "above" the basket of the other stroller, under the seat. It will stick out, but it's still managable. Our water park day, we'll likely only take the one.

of course, we are driving, so we can take whatever we want. If you're flying, not sure how that would work.

We take a double stroller for our three kids 5/4/3. This way it gives each a chance to walk around while the others rest. With two I would take a double so they could both get some rest. If you only took one, you might get stuck carrying one if things got crazy. Beter to be safe than sorry.

we always rent a double for our two kids. Last year they were 4 and 7 and the WDW strollers are awesome. They are made for the terrain of WDW. This year is the last we will be using a stroller 11/27-12/6. There is plenty of room for 2 and also for extras like backpacks . Also you don't have to do the dreaded drag on the bus if you are using Disney transpo. The downside is you have to carry them or they have to walk from the park to the buses which can be a pain at the end of a long day.

If you own a double, it might make things easier for you to bring it, ...the walk to and from the bus stops, monorails, boat from your hotel room / car, then into the park area to get the stroller rental....all of this walking adds up, and also adds quite a few minutes when walking with a one year old and four year old. If you plan on being in the parks all day, I would definitely recommend the double or two strollers...the four year old will need to sit during the day/night!

We just got back and mine are 18 months and almost 4. We took 2 strollers instead of my double. The Double imo is a nightmare to fold and carry. It was tricky getting on and off the buses. But we had 3 adults and my 14 yr old so Two of us took strollers and two took kids. <G> It was nice having the two strollers to bring our small cooler bags and back packs.

I am bringing one single stroller with me for my 2.5 and 4.5 yr. old kids and I will either rent one or buy one if I need another. My stroller has a running board for my 4.5 year old to stand on.

I would rather have two single strollers than one double because I want the flexibility of being able to split up for diaper changes and things.

We take our double jogging stroller. We thought about taking two umbrella stollers this year (kids 5 and 2), bu thtere are so many times that my husband would go on a ride and we would go somewhere else and he would meet us (and vice versa) that two strollers woulnd;t have been practicle for us.

When we go in Feb, I think we're going to bring the single Graco for our, at the time, 18 month old, and an umbrella, for our three year old. Our three year old will want to walk most of the time but should have the umbrella for when she starts to slow down. We have a dual stroller but it's such a bear to navigate in large crowds that it'd be more hassle than just bringing the two, I think.
