Saw that someone else stayed at the Marriott Pinnacle and we did stay there before a cruise but i was also up there a little further away from the cruise port for work before. The Marriott was just about perfect for quick access to the pier and walking distance to other sites. We had two days and were very pleased with that specific hotel and the location.
Lots to do and see in the area and I would second the two most common mentions - Stanley Park and Granville. The park is great and you can easily walk to the area from the hotel above and it is mostly along the water. Time it right and if you follow the path along the water you can watch ships sail in (depending on the tide schedule). Didn't see this mentioned yet, but there is a cannon that is scheduled to go off each evening in the park, the Nine O'Clock Gun, gotta love that! The Old Olympic flame structure is near the hotel and pier. Gastown area and Chinatown are near and easy to walk and explore. You can do other trips but that might take longer and may have associated costs. Lots to do but it depends what interests you to determine what is worth it, but is is pretty easy to keep it pretty low cost and still see some sites.
