Hi! I'm such a huge planner when I go to Disney but this US trips has me feeling like I have no idea where to start. It'll be me (44) and my son (12) for his bday trip. Aug 14-20, split between US and Disney. We are at RPH Aug 14 and 15 and then AKL Aug 16-20.

Our flight lands that Th in Orlando at 1pm. We will go to the hotel, drop our stuff and then....

So we have the rest of Thursday and all day Friday for Universal. Any suggestion on which park which day?

I haven't been since I was 20, he's never been.

He's most excited about the thrill rides and Harry Potter. He's been to Disney 3 other times so that while fun and exciting is not as new as this all feels to him. He's really looking forward to it.

Can I see all/most of it in 1.5 days? This will be a go go go couple days, he's got a ton of energy and we won't be doing sit down food at US. We are there strictly for the rides. If I had to I could switch itinerary and get another day at US on Saturday and move over to AKL later in the day rather than in the morning as planned. I just want him to enjoy.

Would love a little guidance, I know we have Front of the Line do they call it at US? And early entry.

Thanks!

it's called the express pass.
unlimited usage for rides and shows in the parks.

if one park on thursday seems crowded, skip to the other park if you have PtP tickets.

use the early entry on that friday.

with parry hotter opening at the studios, it will change the current way i usually advise how to do the parks.

won't know until after the ph2 is opened to know how the crowds will be.

the express lines will be very beneficial when the parks are full so you won't have any big time waits that way.
but if the park has a large crowd in the parks when you are there, you will have waits for restrooms, shops, or food eateries.

I would get the 3 day park to park tickets in your case. That way you have the option of going to the parks the day you check out. My last trip with two pre teen girls ages 11 and 13 they really wanted to spend the morning we left re riding their favorite rides but we didn't have tickets for that day.

If you don't plan on doing any sit down food you will have be able to do all of the rides (non Harry Potter) in about 1 days time maybe less with your express passes. The longest line I have ever had with express pass was about 20mins. The most common time wait with express pass for me is about 10mins. In the Harry Potter sections only Flight and Dragon have express lines. All other rides only have one line for everyone. Expect lots of line waiting in these sections for not only rides but Ollivander's and shops.

If you do get tired in the middle of the day check out Mythos. The theming is wonderful and food yummy.

Thank you very much for the tips! Will have to consider that 3 day ticket. I need to re-look over our Disney itinerary. I know we have an ADR Saturday but I'm pretty sure I made it for a dinner so we could have the morning at US if we wanted to do that. Thanks for giving me so ideas to think about!
