Hi all,

My DH and I are going for a quick 4 night relax trip in February to AKL Jambo. We are going with my sister and Brother In law and sharing points to do this. We want to be at Jambo just to relax and think that maybe we should go for the Two bedroom but would love to save the points and just do a 1 bedroom. We are able to get a 1 Bedroom Standard or Savannah view.

Has anyone stayed with two couples in a one Bedroom at Jambo. Do you think there is enough room. We are close family so we don't mind having to share the one bathroom. This is not a Value but I know at Jambo the rooms were converted so I think they are smaller than at Kidani and laid out a bit different. Is that correct? We don't want to go to Kidani. Does anyone have a video of a one bedroom at Jambo (standard or savanah view) or a room layout? I think the Bathroom is across the hall or something like that.
Of course if we do this not sure how we decide who gets the master bedroom. Maybe we ought to just stick to a two bedroom.....:headache:
Any help is really appreciated!!

I would get 2 studios or 2 bedroom. I wouldn't want to be the couple on the sofabed in a 1 bedroom.

It is doable as a 1BR. The room size is close to what you get at BWV, BCV, SSR and VWL. The issue is the sofa bed. We have found those to be very firm at AKV and thus whoever gets it may not be all that comfortable. Also, there is not much closet space, one of the apparent results of converting hotel rooms to DVC 1BRs.

Kidani 1BR is better, including because room is 100 sq ft larger and you get extra bathroom.

If we were in this situation we would ask ourselves whether or not they are people we want to spend every waking moment with for 4 days (sometimes it's nice to have a little break from most of the people we know.)

If we do not need any time to ourselves I would then make sure we have the same sleep patterns - early to bed, late night owls, up at the crack of dawn...

If the answer is no to any of the above, we would get 2 studios if savings points is a factor.

If not, a 1 bedroom should work. If the pull out is an issue you could always wash the sheets and split the time on the pull out.

I wouldn't need the full kitchen and washer/dryer for 4 nights so that wouldn't really factor in for me under these circumstances.

I'd never do it, but if I had to, it would have to be the Kidani with 2 bathrooms. Who wants to walk through someone's bedroom in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom?

2 couples in a 1BR is not my idea of relaxing. No room to spread out and laze a bit. It sounds like you are not planning a commando park trip so having a good set up on the room would be important to us. Saving points to end up with this set up wouldn't work for us. Just my two cents.

At Jambo, the bathroom is across the hall from the master bedroom.

I wouldn't stay in a one bedroom with another couple. We are staying in a kidani one bedroom with my kids 3 &5 and my mother but I don't think I would even stay in a one bedroom if both of my parents came with us. I didn't have enough points for our trip in a two bedroom though this time since it's our first year and we only bought 100 points and needed to borrow 59 for our trip this time.

In my experience two couples in a one bedroom gets stressful. Just my opinion. I would just spend the extra points and get a two bedroom or two studios. You never know when in the trip you're gonna want some privacy.

I would suggest getting the two studios so you each have your own bed and bathroom. In my opinion, it's not worth saving points to not have the comfort of a real bed after walking around the parks all day.

If you are sharing points, who gets the real bed and who gets stuck in the smaller sleeper sofa? Plus, to me, that's no so relaxing to share a small room with another couple. No matter how friendly you are with them.

Just to clarify, both families are DVC members and both are contributing points? To me that would make a huge difference. If both are contributing equally, to me one having the king in the master and the other having a queen sleeper isn't any good. I also wouldn't love sharing a bathroom with my sister and brother in law. Sister would be fine, but it would be awkward with brother in law. I would feel like I was back in my room mate days making sure the bathroom was clear so I could go in. 2 studios sounds like the way to go to me.

I would definitely go for 2 studios or a 2 bedroom. Otherwise one couple gets the short end of the stick if sleeping on a pull-out sofa vs. having the master bedroom. Having a common living area is nice, but I think you'll appreciate the two bathrooms and privacy.

This shows the hallway going back to the Master bedroom (on the right) and the bathroom (on the left).

And the bathroom itself which has the enclosed toilet room back on the left and the tub/shower was across from the sinks behind the door:

And a picture of the living room (but ignore the brown chair on the right which was my mother's lift chair that we rented). The doorway you see to the right of the kitchen is where I stood to take the picture of the laundry and hallway to the master:

I could stay there with close family.

Since you say you all are close and want to save points, I would do it. Our family wouldn't have a problem sharing. I think you should consider the points and maybe the couple getting the master bd would use more of their points since it really wouldn't be fair to use the same amount of points and have to sleep in the living room.

If you decide not to do the 1 bd, go for the 2 bd since the points should be cheaper and you will be together, if that's what you would like.
