Two countries divided by the same language?

Was talking about my latest trip with the staff in my office the other day (one visited WDW, the others haven't) and they commented that since I returned from 3 weeks away, I had a few odd words in my vocab on the phone!

Got me thinking about the different words that we use compared to the US....

So to get us all a little bit more in the US-mood, lets start our own Thesaurus of UK-US-UK speak? You got the picture?

Here's an obvious starter (or two):

UK - "queue" = US - "line"
UK - "mobile" phone = US "cell" phone​

Lets see how many we can get?

The butter thing is funny whenever we ask for butter (pronouced with the t's) we always get blank looks but if you ask for it swapping the t's for d's they seem to understand

Nappies...........Diapers

The more I read, the more occur to me.....

UK- tuna ("tchewna") = US - tuna ("toona")... although that is more how they say a word than a different word....

If you mean, what do they put their money in, it's their wallet.

And in some parts of the U.S.(the South) a soda is never a soda or a pop--it's a coke, regardless of the actual brand.
