I am currently awaiting points to be deposited in the system from two contracts a Oct. UY and Sept. UY. If I want to make a ressie inside 7mo. will MS work seemlessly taking points from both to fill a waitlist request if one contract runs out? Do I have to ask them that? Will it require a new reservation?
Thanks
Chris

They can do that - but it requires additional steps that need to be done manually and it may not happen as seamlessly as you'd like.

If you don't have enough points from one contract to reserve the entire stay, I'd suggest reserving as many nights from one contract as possible (even if it means using the waitlist) and then reserve the remaining nights using the other contract.

For example - If you want 7 nights and can't "afford" more than 4 nights using either contract - I'd commit the first 4 nights using contract "A" and the other 3 nights using contract "B" - and MS will link the two reservations together so you won't need to move. This could be done using the waitlist as you originally asked, but depending on it to happen seamlessly may find more hassle than it's worth and you'll remove that hassle by the above method.

The easiest way to do this is to find all of the days available at 7 months with no need to use the waitlist - and even that will involve a little finess with MS. It's very do-able - we've done it this way on many occasions - even using the waitlist as I described.

Good luck! :)

Since the contracts have different use years, MS will consider them two separate entities.

You will not be able to combine points from the two contracts for the same night. For example, if you need 8 points to reserve a night, MS can't take 6 points from one contract and 2 from another without transferring points between the contracts. And as I think you know, you can only do one transfer per use year.

If I were in this situation, I would not do the auto waitlist, but ask for a call instead. Then I would tell MS specifically whcih points to use.

If you have additional contracts all with the same UY but from different resorts, can MS use the last 6 points from resort A and the needed points from resort B to reserve a night within the 7 month wondow? Does it make a difference if one contract is an extension of the master contract or if both contracts have different contract numbers (i.e. 2 contracts bought resale, but with same UY)?

Yes it does make a difference. Having the same use year and same master contract, even with different resorts, greatly simplifies combining points for a reservation. Last week I used points at the 7 month mark from two different resorts but the same use year and same master contract. I did not have to worry about transferring points. I was able to combine the points for a single night.
I would like to say that I was smart and requested that all of our add-ons be under a single master contract, but in fact TTS just did it for us. I am very thankful. Right now I am in the midst of trying to add-on again via resale and this time I am specifically asking to have the new points under our single master contract. I hope it turns out that way. Easy is good.

Amen to no waitlists.

The difference simply being MS calls you telling you that a room you waitlisted for has opened?
What are auto waitlist downsides?
And thanks you guys for answering this stuff.

Yes. Then you can say that you still want it (and tell the CM which contact and which points to use for the reservation). Or you can say you do't want it anymore.

WIth auto wiatlist, if something becomes available that matches your waitlist request, MS just books it. You find out when you get the confirmation letter or by checking your account on the members' website.

If you are waitlisted at more than one resort fro the same time, you could end up with more than one resevation for the same dates - could be a hassle to correct if you don't notice it in time or if MS borrowed points to make a reservation or had to cancel something else. I'm sure that gives you an idea of what could go wrong. Auto waitlist can be a good thing - but you have to think it through for each situation.
