Our first day at MK is my dd's 9th birthday. She requested Chef Mickey's for dinner that day, so that's what I had planned. BUT, my SIL, who is mentally challenged and has never been to MK and LOVES Pooh would have a wonderful time at CP for breakfast (not to mention getting into the park early!).

Would this be too much in 1 day? We will have my dd's birthday FP's but my MIL and FIL want to "take it slow" and enjoy everything. (read: they don't want me to go commando on them!)

We probably won't have hoppers, so going there on another day really isn't an option. We are staying 2 miles offsite in a house, so we could go home mid-day and rest/have lunch.

Have you ever done two character meals in 1 day AND gotten to tour the park fairly well? We will also get to go to MK on MNSSHP, so that might help make sure we see everything we want.

I would think if you get Crystal Palace as close to 8 am as you can, it should work out fine. Then you aren't using touring time to eat. You didn't say what time you would want to be at Chef Mickey's, but if you could time that at the end of your break, you would save on travel time. I think two buffets spaced that far apart work well. Have a fun and magical trip! :goodvibes

I think you will be fine doing both in a day. Both are buffets and I think that helps each person find what they like as both have great variety.

CP and CM are 2 of our favorite character meals!!

we've done the sort of thing you are talking about 2 character meals and if that is what the kids want... thats cool.

now that the kids are a bit older... we only do 1TS and do one characher... one not..

Kids in our latest trip loved Teppen Edo and Sci Fi.

May try Biergarten next time....

Heck, my daughter and I did CRT twice in one day! (In our defense, it IS an entirely different experience at dinner than at lunch! And it's not as much a budget buster with one adult and one child.....)

Breakfast as early as possible followed by CM that night is a great plan! If it's going to be hot out, I'd even consider CP for lunch, for a cool oasis in the middle of the day.

My daughter will also spend her 9th birthday in the MK this year. She wants 1900 Park Fair for dinner, and I want lunch at CRT. So we're "compromising" and doing both!

Happy Birthday to your daughter! When are you going???

Yay! :cool1: I was hoping it wasn't too much.

We're going October 19th-27th! I almost cried when I realized we could plan it to be at MK on her birthday. We're going with my husbands family, so there will be 8 of us, luckily they are letting me plan everything!

I think you need to do what feels best for your family. I'm a character meal junkie, so we do as many character meals as I can fit into the schedule, which usually is one per day. One day we did Ohana for 8am bfast, CP for lunch and LTT for dinner!!! My boys loved it!! (see my oct trip report with all the character meal photos)

I think that the character meals are unique to Disney and something that adds to your experience. Others might feel that any TS meal takes away from their time touring the parks. You just have to decide what feels right for you family, your budget and your schedule.

Another question about CP breakfast too...

IF I can get an 8am ressie, and get there right on time, will we be finished by 9am or do character meals take longer? The park will open at 9am that day (I'm guessing by last years hours and normally Tuesday's MK doesn't have EMH) and I don't want to spend too much time at breakfast.

I agree with everyone here! Two character meals in one day sounds like fun! I wouldn't hesitate for one minute!!!

I think it's a great idea. It's actually what we'll be doing on my boys' birthday. They're both early risers, so I have 8:10 @ CP and dinner at CM. :) My guys are going to be 3 & 1, so we'll be spending most of our time in fantasyland. With the birthday FP option, I think it'll work out great for us. You should have a fine day. Have bunches of fun!!

ETA- When we did an 8:05 @ CP before, we were finished and into the park just as it opened. You'll be fine.

We had 8:15 at CP on our last trip and it took FOREVER to get seated. First I waited forever at the window while someone netotiated over whether they could be seated as a large group as WALK-UPS, then they were actually seated before us........ Then it took forever for Piglet to finally make it over to our table. So we didn't make it out until about 9:40. I hated giving up that valuable 40 minutes, but it wasn't an insanely busy time and we recovered ok. In retrospect, it was still a distinctive and pleasant way to start the day. Just be prepared for potential delays, and hopefully they won't happen!

If you're in a large group and get delayed, send someone out ahead of the group to get your first set of fast passes!

Wah. My MIL nixed the idea, saying it was too many sit-down meals in one day ($$$). We have one scheduled for every day we are at WDW and she's offering to pay for all the food on the trip for all 8 of us, so I can't really argue. I'll be just as happy to go to Chef Mickey's for my dd's bday dinner and my dd won't know I even considered it b/c I hadn't mentioned it to her.

To be honest, I wouldn't be able to eat anything there but fruit (vegan), I just wanted to get in the park early to take pics of the castle without any people in front of it!

There's always a NEXT TRIP! :thumbsup2

Does everyone have to do everything together??? Maybe you could do this by yourselves?????? Regardless, having a mother in law who would pay for all the meals sounds pretty priceless!

Or maybe you can rebook to check in by Oct 3rd and get free dining????? (assuming you are on site.....)
