Two Canadians Take on Disney in the Summer: An August PTR Updated 8/18

As our Disney trip draws nearer I find that there is less and less planning left to do. I think I'm in that awkward phase where it is too late to make reservations but still too early to start packing. In the meantime I'm looking forward to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 coming out next week. I've decided to re-read the final book since I find that I don't remember most of the book. When it first came out I bought it at midnight and read all through the night. I was finished by noon the next day haha. I'm taking it slower this time around.

So for day 6 we are heading into the wild at Animal Kingdom.

At first I had looked into having early morning ADR at Tusker House but we've since decided that we'd get there for rope drop instead. This is the day my dgf is looking most forward too. I had tried to put it earlier in the week but we decided to avoid morning EMH and pushed back our AK day.

Must do's for AK: (Drum Roll Please.....)
:simba: Expedition Everest (My last visit to WDW was shortly after AK first opened so EE didn't exist yet)
:simba: Kali River Rapids and Kilimanjaro's safari
:simba: Festival of the Lion King (and if time permits we will go see Finding Nemo the Musical)
:simba: Walk the trails to see the animals ( We both love animals and going to the local zoo. )
:simba: Flame Tree BBQ for lunch. The Ribs look amazing
:simba: Primeval Whirl and It's Tough to be a bug are both closed so we won't be able to ride those.

If we have time we'll try to hit up Conservation Station but it is not a must do.

After Animal Kingdom we have some special plans!!! We are heading over to DTD for supper at Fulton's Crab House. I decided to cancel our ADRs at the Captain's Grill and book at Fulton's instead since we are celebrating...

:cheer2::cake:party::jumping1::bounce: Our Birthday!!! :bounce::jumping1:party::cake::cheer2:

Our birthdays are only a few days apart in early September and we figured why not celebrate it at WDW. The only downside to this is that this is our only evening in DTD so we lose a few hours of shopping. I think it's worth it.

Must Do's in Downtown Disney:
:music: Goofy's Candy Co., World of Disney, Once Upon a Toy, Disney Days of Christmas
:music: Characters in Flight
:music: Fulton's Crab House
:music: Take pictures near Lego Store

Well that's it for this time around. Thanks for reading my ramblings.

Loving the must-dos, mine are very similar!
Celebrating a birthday (or better yet, two!) would be pretty special in WDW. I hope you have a magical evening! :D

As always, your plans sound like so much fun! How fun to be celebrating TWO birthdays at Disney! I'd love to do Disney for my birthday, but it's in July, and I won't consider going in that heat!!

Definitely definitely DEFINITELY Goofy's Candy Company is a must-do in DTD! I vote for a make your own treat, they're fun! (I like to go at a really random off-hour when it's not crowded there, that store is REALLY chaotic when it gets busy. What I did last time was we got our treat before dinner, and just carried the bag around. There was no line when we went, but when we wandered back that way after dinner, the store was PACKED.)

Thanks :) Unfortunately, not long after I updated my ptr I realized that I had misread the WDW Dining plan info and that Fulton's is not on the dining plan. So our plans for that evening have changed. We'll have to find another way to celebrate our birthdays.

We are going in the August heat so we aren't much better off haha.

Hey,
So after I wrote my last post where I got all excited about our birthday supper at Fulton's I returned to the Disney website and quickly realized my mistake. Fulton's is availble only with the deluxe or platinum dining plan (whichever is the most expensive). So I quickly cancelled that reservation. We replaced it with a early lunch at Sci-Fi dining when we are are DHS and a lunch at Tepan Eddo when we are at Epcot. We're still going to spend that evening at DTD but we will probably check out Earl of Sandwhich instead.

We are at the four week mark! I'm getting very excited about this trip. We still haven't received our package or ME tags yet but I heard the Canada Post service is still slow since the strike.

Day 7: Blizzard Beach
Now I'm not a big fan of this water park because I don't like water slides. I would of been fine spending an extra day at EPCOT but DGF wants to do both water park and she's the boss so off to BB we go! :lovestruc

Must Do's:
:santa: Cross-Country Creek (Slow and somewhat relaxing...my kind of beach day)
:santa: Teamboat springs ( the one slide that I actualy look forward to going on again)
:santa: Summit Plummet (NOT for me...DGF says she might want to do it but doesn't want to commit to it until she sees it up close)

I'm not sure how long we'll spend at BB but whenever we are done we plan on heading back to the resort to wash up and get dressed up. We have a late supper planned at Narcoossee's. After supper we'll catch the fireworks at Poly Beach then head over to the MK for late EMH. Not sure how busy MK will be that night so we don't have any touring plan or must do's for this evening.

I think Fulton's is only available on the platinum plan. We usually do the deluxe plan, and I haven't seen it listed there.

Your alternate plans sound great though! I haven't been to Teppan Edo in a long time, but I remember having a fun time there! :)

I hate the water parks, lmao, so I'm feeling your dislike. For me, I enjoy riding down the water slides, but it just isn't worth a 5 mile hike up stairs! :D

Your new birthday plans sound excellent.

I've always found I've gotten my ME and other Mickey Mail fairly late too, and that was with a Travel Agent. Interesting... maybe the post is still running slower though. I wouldn't doubt it.

I like to start this post by getting you in the Disney mood. Here is the Magic Kingdom Rope Drop Ceremory

We are at the three week mark. I'm so excited to see how close my ticker is to the end of the countdown. I can't believe we started planning over 180 days ago. I must admit that I am starting to panic as the trip gets closer.:hyper: I need to make myself a to-do list of things to be done before we leave.

So last week I mentioned that we had yet to receive our luggage tags from ME. Well I got a phone call this week that explained it all. The package had been waiting at our local UPS/Purolator office for two weeks but I had never received any indications that the package had arrived. They must not of had the right address. Unfortunately it was sent back to the sender so I had to contact Disney so they could send another package out. Hopefully we will receive them before we leave.

One thing I learned while planning for this trip is that even though planning is important it is impossible to prepare for everything. Already, DHS's hours have changed, Fantasmics have been added, EMH at MK have been extended... Thankfully these changes where for the better but it just goes to show how things can change last minute. (And we are still 3 weeks out!).

For our last day in WDW we have an extra special day planned in the MK. We will need to get up early to get to our 8:20AM ADR at the Crystal Palace. :tigger: I am really looking forward to walking down an empty Main St towards the castle. We don't have a particular plan for the day yet since it will all depend on which rides we got to do on our first MK day and what our favorites will be. DGF has decided to end the night ( and the week) with a special event. She made reservations to the Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Party. I feel this will be the best ending to a WDW vacation. Afterwards we'll head back to our resort and pack. We leave bright and early on the 28th to head back home.

So this ends the review of my WDW plans. There have been a few modifications to the plan since this PTR has started and I'm sure it'll changed even more once we get there. Next week I'll go over our must-do snacks and treats. I promise I'll try to figure out how to post pictures before then. Thanks for reading so far!

Very true about the changing Disney schedule. Hard to believe its almost time for us to go.:thumbsup2:cool1:

So I never got around to doing my last post about all the goodies we where looking forward to in Disney. Life got in the way I guess. We spent the last few days visiting family and thinking about all the things we need to do before we leave. Although we have already started packing our bags I still have a 25 point to do list for tomorrow. I must admit that I am starting to get nervous. After 8 months of preparations, reservations and anticipation, we start travelling in 2 days! I have butterflies in my stomach and my head in the clouds! I can't wait till I see this sight!

With this I conclude my PTR. Thanks for reading and I would love to come back with plenty of pictures for a TR to share on the DIS.

I hope you had a fantastic time!! Please post your TR link here when you do start it, I'd love to read it!
