I just returned from WDW (too incredible!) and wanted to share two very important things I saw and/or experienced:

1) I saw a darling 5-year-old girl on our bus who had on a cute little bracelet. You know the kind: each square bead has a letter on it so you can spell out the child's name. Well her parents went one step further. In cute pastel colors they made a bracelet that spelled out her first name and then on white beads with black letters they spelled out ICE (for In Case of Emergency) and then they had their telephone number.

So it looked like a cute little bracelet, but when you got close to it, you could see, spelled out through each bead, the child's first name, then ICE, then a telephone number . . . just in case if she ever got lost. :flower:

I thought this was a very clever and awesome idea! :flower:

2) If you are on your MYW plan, do not plan two Table Service Meals for the same day (one for lunch, the other for dinner). We were so stuffed after lunch (with no snacks in between), when dinner rolled around we truly could not appreciate it as much because we were still full from lunch several hours earlier! But boy was that meal plan worth it! What a bargain! Yummmm! :earboy2:

The bracelet idea is wonderful, and so pretty for a little girl.

I've seen parents do the name pin with the name of the resort they're staying and a cellphone number. I thought it was a fabulous idea!

The bracelet idea is wonderful...all parents should read this!! :dog2:

I like the idea of the ICE number, but I've read where you never want your young child's name on them in any way (shirt, necklace, in this case bracelet), because the perv's will use the child's name to make them feel comfortable and convince them they "know" them and it's ok to go with them.

It's a sad sad world we live in that you have to worry about things like that, but it's reality.

I agree with this and wish mentioning so in my initial response. ICE would be sufficient. I get incredibly eeeked out when I see kids with their names on their clothing or backpacks. DD wanted her name monogrammed on her new backpack this year, but my compromise was her initials only. She was happy with that because the other option would be nothing at all.

I think you would have to get up close to read it. It would not have the same effect as someone walking up to a child and calling them by name.

I agree with no visable names on clothing or backpacks. But I think the bracelet would be fine.

you know... if a perv wanted to know my kids' names it's easy enough. I have to call them by their name... all they have to do is hang around us for less than an hour and they'll easily find out the kids' name, so not putting their names on anything isn't a deterrent for pervs.

teaching the kids what to do if they're separated is much easier. We tell the kids if they get separated from us, look for a CM - look for a person wearing the WHITE badges. Go inside a building and find a person behind the counter. Then show them ID. I made ID tags that fit right on their shoe. It's so small (size 4 font) that anyone who needs to see has to bend down right down to their feet to read it, so any casual observer can't. On it, I just have their name, our name, and cell phone number.
