Two American Girl ??s ~ Help please?

Sorry not much response on the family board ~ hoping I could find more info here. Budget related hopefully, so we make the right purchases & don't waste $$$.

1) How does AG fit? Our 1st & only purchase for DD (a small 5t) was the basketball jersey in a 7 @ Christmas, & I just figured it would be OK with a long-sleeve tee underneath until she grew into it. It just fits over her tee & she’ll probably only be able to wear it this summer! Now, I need to go back & get the Jess set for girls before it’s gone, however I’m just a little worried about ordering a 7?


2) DD loves Molly’s glasses, so I was going to add a pair of round glasses to this order for her Jess ~ do they actually stay on the dolls?

Any opinions/input greatly appreciated? Thanks so much!

The clothes seem to me to run big. Anything I have ever purchased was always big for my DD.

My DD has Molly and the glasses seem to stay on her face just fine.

In my experience shirts run small pants run big.

My first two "clothing" purchases were PJ's this Christmas. I purchased my DD7 the Emily pj's and my DD4 the Bitty Baby nightgown. They are both "normal" size kids...my DD7 is tallish and skinny and wears a 6 or 6x in pants but at least an 8 in shirts. PJ's however, she usually wears a 10 since they are supposed to be "snug fitting" and she doesn't like them snug. I ordered the 10/12 pjs and they are HUGE. That said, I'm not sure how long she would have been able to wear the 7/8. For my DD4, who wears a 4 or 5 pant, a 5 shirt and 6 pj's, I ordered a 6x nightgown. It's big, but not horribly, mainly long and she'll be able to wear it for quite some time.

After Christmas my DD7 ordered the "Sparkly tunic" shirt with a gift certificate she received. I ordered the 8 and it fits her perfectly.

The glasses stay on quite well I think. As for clothes, they are a trial for me! I love their clothes but DD is fairly petite and IMO the American girl clothes run huge! She has some of the Kit jammies which are a size 10 and are enormous on her. She also has the jeans that the Girl of Today dolls used to come in and they have a good 4 in at the waist that could be taken in as well as several inches off the bottom. She wears a 10 in all clothes for length and while we have some trouble with the waists in many of them, none are as bad as AG.

I ordered the Emily PJ set for Girls and dolls for DD for christmas. She is 6.5 and the size 6 PJ's were huge on her. She is rather petite though. My niece also has clothes from there and she just turned 9 and wears a size 10 in AG. She is a larger big boned girl though, not fat just tall and thick I guess.

I got DD8 a size small cheer tshirt for Christmas and it seems smaller than the usual size 7 clothes.

DD also picked out the lilac colored glasses for Emily when we were at the AG store and they got bent and now don't stay on the doll anymore. She is very careful with her things and knows about glasses since her younger brother has them. I think the doll actually was dropped or fell when at her friends house and they may have gotten hit. Before that tho they fit and stayed on great.
