Two Alligators Involved

I don't know much about this, but I did find this - interesting read. If there were indeed two of them, that man is lucky he only came out with minor injuries. Yikes.

I have a hard time believe this unless the gators were mating... they are very territorial. But they aren't considered mature until they are 6 ft? I don't know how big the gators they caught were, though. But mating is usually in early May? So... still doesn't necessarily make sense.
They have sharp claws- maybe he got scratched and thought it was another gator's teeth?

I thought gators aren't considered adults until they are over 4 feet long. As for mating it starts late April and goes into early June from what I've seen.

I've found April to early May, but I'm trying to find more information at better sources. Relatively new to bayou country in Louisiana so I'm still learning about the local wildlife.

I know when the attack at GF happened almost all reports said it was still technically mating season so that's why I've said April to early June.

I wouldn't call this releasing information. police reports are public record and they just happened to become available... finding that child should have been and was the priority of all this..

This is just the fathers interview of what happened and the brain fills in details that may not have been there in order to make sense of it. The poor man was wrestling trying to save his child and it all happened so quick that someone couldn't get there in time to try to help.. It's probably something like the aligator swung it's tail and hit him from behind trying to both keep it's food (sorry to be blunt) and protect itself from the attacker.. In the moment with that going on, I'm sure I would have all types of it wasn't really there memories on what happened, what I did, why I couldn't' save my child....

I wouldn't immediately discount the dad's account, even if it's not usual gator behavior. The dad was injured seriously enough to require medical attention on his hands somehow and he had no reason to lie (and he did not lie about things that would harm his case, like being in the water) - he wanted his child found immediately and his child was attacked by a gator. It easily could have been 2 gators - one who took the child and a separate one who saw the dad as separate prey as he was splashing and likely screaming...

Two gators lurking in the same spot makes me wonder how much the feeding problem at GF was out of control.

There is no fix for stupid ... yesterday I saw a family of idiots feeding seagulls on a public swimming beach. I.e. a main source of bacteria and infections.

While it's possible the chances are very slim I think. If it was two gators I'm guessing that would've been let out by the police in the news conferences. They routinely said one gator. That's just my take.

What I think is interesting about this is that with this information now out it actually sounds just like another story that came out after the tragedy. I believe the Dad in the other story was a lawyer in CA. He said there were two gators working together to come after their son. Anyone remember this other story?
