Twlight checkin - overnight bag?

Hi

We are doing twlight checkin, and just wonder what people did with there overnight bag? as there are 4 of us travelling (2 adults and 2 kids) we will have quite abit and don't want to have to carry it onto the plane.

Can I check it in just before we board (i.e at gate)? any ideas..??
Also can I take my hairstraigners on as handluggage?

We ended up taking our overnight bag back to the car in the morning before we flew.

My parents managed to get the overnight stuff they needed into their hand luggage - guess it just depends how much stuff you've got!

I think you can take straigteners in your hand luggage - I'm sure someone else will be able to confirm that though.

A good tip is to take as much disposable stuff as possible...

We always pack new toothbrushes for holidays - take the old ones to the airport and throw them away. Take almost empty toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo and any other toiletries you might need and throw away whats left. I always find it is these items that take up the room in overnight bags.

As we won't be able to go back to our car on our next visit/overnight stay at Gatwick, I'm going to make sure that everyone has clean jeans, so they can be worn the next day. the only items that then need to be taken on board are dirty uderwear and t-shirts, which should be easy to cram into hand luggage.

We took our overnight items down to the checkin desk in the morning. Well actually my DH did, while we got ready. He also made a trip to car, after we realised that the car seat had been left behind! We stayed in the Hilton which made it very easy to take the extra bag down.

Last year we manged to get all our overnight stuff in our bags, l spread everything between the 5 of us and it wasn't a problem. l also took my hair straightners which went through the x-ray machine a couple times and got some strange looks but there was no problem with them there only at the hotel where they didn't work. lwent to use them and found they only barely heated up so l spent two weeks with my hair tied back.
