My wife and I found out that we are having twins in May! We are so very excited for this addition to our family.

We both love Disney World- are there any other parents of twins out there? Any advice for bringing them to WDW? How old were they when you brought them? My wife is especially worried about breast feeding them at WDW. I really want to take them next December, my wife is thinking more like January or February (probably with grandparents or our best couple friends' help! we're not crazy!)

Thanks in advance!

Congratulations!!! My twins are almost 9 already. The first year is hard, I wouldn't have wanted to plan a trip to Disney with two babies, especially if breast feeding two.

I would have taken them around 4-5, but then I had another baby. So they were 7 and 2 when we finally went.

Congratulations!!!
I have 5 year old twin boys and although hard work they are sooooo worth it! We took them to WDW for the first time last February, I really couldn't imagine having taken them when they were so small although I'm sure it's completely doable.
We brought them to Canada from England for their 1st birthday and apart from only one of them sleeping for the entire flight we had no issues (but we were also staying with my sister so had all the home comforts!)

I breastfed and it wasn't as tough as I expected (although i expected the worst for EVERYTHING so i couldnt be too disappointed if things didnt work out ;))but the one piece of advice I have is to buy a cover-up (not wanting to get into the breastfeeding in public debate!!) just to make things easier. I tandem fed my boys and there was no way to be subtle, plus it keeps the sun off of them

Congratulations! How exciting! Mine are 4.5 yrs old now and we are heading down for their 3rd trip next month. They went at 2.5 yrs and at 3.5 yrs. We had originally planned to wait until they were 4-5 yrs old for their first trip. But I am a WDW nut and I could not wait that long. 2.5 yrs old was really great, actually. We had an amazing time. Although, I'm not sure I'd go any younger with twins. They are a handful... A lot of fun, but a handful. But then, we didn't have anyone to travel with us and help out, it was just DH and I. With some good help, hey why not. Definitely take advantage of the baby care centers for feedings & changing... They are awesome.

Mine were 4 1/2. I'm not a big fan of travelling with babies/toddlers - all of my kids were left with the grandparents when they were little. The first vacation we brought them on was when they were 18 months, only because the resort had babysitting (and we ended up losing one of them for about 20 minutes).

Congrats! The first few years with twins are hard, but then it's pretty easy.

Congratulations! We have twin 4 year old boys and a 7 year old daughter. Like the other posters have expressed, the first couple of years are tough. We didn't go anywhere too far their first year...we spent a weekend away within driving distance. We attempted a trip to WDW when the boys were 15 months old...we ended up cutting our trip short, we left after only 2 days. It was just too much for us and we weren't enjoying ourselves (and the boys didn't seem to be either...too much of a change from their usual routine and environment.) We rescheduled a trip with just our daughter later that year (she was 4) and we didn't go back as a family until the boys were 3. Then, we had a great time!

Granted, on our first trip, we didn't have any help and we did have a third young child with us too...but in my opinion, I would consider waiting until they were a little older (preschool age). I would definitely wait until after they are born until you make any concrete plans...and see how you feel about it then!

Having twins is a amazing experience! While it's challenging and exhausting when they are babies and toddlers, it gets a lot easier and now they are each other's playmate and best friend. Best wishes to you and your growing family!

Congratulations! Our twins recently turned 10. Can't believe it's been 10 years already. We took them for the first time when they were about 14months. We also have an older child who was 7 that trip. It was certainly a more laid back and go with the flow trip, but we still had a great time. :goodvibes

Congrats!! My twins just turned 4 & their 1st trip was at 5 months old. Since then they have been every year. I must be the odd one out or my girls were really good babies because they were easier than my son! Schedule is key with twins & when your on vacation with kids you go at their pace. The child care centers were a great place to feed the babies & take a break. Good luck & what a double blessing!

Congratulations!!!! That is wonderful news! I don't have twins, but I have friends and family that do. Are these your first kids? If so, I don't know that I would book a trip until they are here, and you have an idea of how much work it is going to be! As a Mom, I can tell you before having that first child, whatever you think you thought you knew, you don't! ;) It is wonderful and so worth it though! The twins will probably be a little smaller too and may have been born a few weeks early as twins often are, so I would worry a bit about taking them to WDW right in the middle of cold and flu season when they are not yet 1 year old. (I'm a bit of a worrier though, so I might worry about that with any under 1 year old, so don't let me scare you- once they are born, your pediatrician will be able to tell you if there is any reason you should hold off past their first cold and flu season). We took DD for her first WDW trip at age 2, and it was a wonderful trip. Twins should be double the fun - a little extra effort- but you will tend to forget the hassles and remember the wonderful times! It is great that they will each have a built in playmate for their WDW trips!

Congrats x 2!

My twins are 2.5 years old and just went to WDW first time last month (Nov 2013).

Honestly? Wish we had waited until they were 4-5 years old. My kids are creatures of habit and going to WDW threw them and us completely off schedule. Kids were sick to boot. Tons of meltdowns and tantrums. There were magical moments, don't get me wrong. But overall the trip was very hard physically / emotionally.

There were 4 adults to 2 kids and even then, we felt outnumbered. They are very active, don't like to sit still, couldn't stand in lines, and were just overall overstimulated. It was an exhausting trip.

Regarding going the first year, there is no way we could have done it. Would not have worked for our family.

But every family is different and you won't know until your LO arrive what kind of temperament they will have or how your family will all work.

I have twin daughters that are five now and my son is 3. We took them all for the first time for the girl's 4th birthday. We are headed back this week for trip number three with all of them.

First of all, we used a non-Disney VIP service that was great! If you want more info on that, PM me ... I don't want to derail the thread.

Second, for the first trip on their birthday, we took my parents as well. The next two trips have been without my parents.

If you are flying it helps the first time that you fly to have one big person per little person :-)

There is nothing "wrong" with taking kids when they are little. However, they aren't going to remember anything when they are babies. That is why we waited until the girl's turned four. We decided it wasn't worth the hassle and potential headache for something that they wouldn't remember. We actually left them at home and took their then 15 year old half brother when I was pregnant with the now 3 year old.

We have 5 year old twins. We took them for their 5th birthday. I could not imagine going much earlier. As the previous poster mentioned, it's not worth the hassle to go when they may not remember it. We had both our moms come with and there were still times we felt overwhelmed (usually at QS meals).

Cpngrats!

Our kids are 22 months now and we took them to WDW at 19 months. We don't regret going or anything but we do feel it was a bit of a waste. WDW is an expensive vacation and there was very little they enjoyed.

Our just turned 4 twin boys have been 8 times. Their first trip was at 18 months with several trips at ages 2 and 3. For us, the two year old trips were tough. 18 months wasn't bad. Honestly, no way would I take twin infants. They are busy busy. Lots of time spent feeding, particularly if they are breast fed. 18 months who'd be the earliest I would go, but realistically, I woukd probably wait Neil right before they turned 3 so they were still free.(I say this and ours have been 8 times, we had a lot of DVC points to use and spent some time one summer living in Florida some did several 3-4 day trips).

Thanks all for the congrats and advice! :)

We will definitely not be booking anything until well after they are born (we are lucky that we can usually travel on short notice if we want to!). We also would never go without some extra hands to help us (my mom loves flying and loves kids, she would be a big help!) We know that the babies won't remember anything- the trip is more for us- we will remember every little experience that they have, every smile, every laugh, every cry, etc. We know it would be a very slow paced trip and will have to move at their speed.

We are very excited for this chapter in our lives and are glad so many other people have had good trips with their (albeit older) twins!

Thanks again!

Congrats! We took our twins last week of Oct - first week of Nov this year for the first time (they turned two during our trip). Taking them again next year for their 3rd birthday! Twins are a lot of work but sooo much fun :)

Congratulations! I'm also a twin momma here! Our boy/girl twins will be 4 in a couple of weeks!

For me, some days are still rough, honestly. The first year was okay - it was tricky figuring it all out at first but once we had a system, it was mechanical in some ways. The second year was hard for ME! They were mobile and on the GO! Now they just have opinions about everything :)

We took them last year for the first time, when they were just shy of their 3rd birthday. We have an older daughter who is now 8 and going from paying for 3 to paying for 5 was a little scary for us! We had a great time with them while we were there last year, though. It was a great age for our family. They slept a lot in the strollers but they were champs and kept up for the most part.

I breast fed the twins for a little over a year and I'm super proud of that but would not have wanted to deal with it at Disney World. That's just my opinion though.

We are looking forward to heading back in 47 days! Woo hoo!

Congrats again!

Another twin mom here! We took ours @ 13 months-and didn't think it was horrible. It wasn't a relaxing vacation but the kids did well. My mom came also (we have an older daughter so nana helped her do the "big kid" stuff). We're also going back this summer-right before they turn 3 so we can get 1 more "cheap" trip in. Twins are hard work and exhausting but so much fun!!! Congrats!!
