What freak storms. We were driving out to Stillwater, it was raining pretty heavily but the sky wasn't dark at all. All of the sudden the sirens started going off-which they do WAY too often for nothing so everyone ignores them. We turned on WCCO and they were talking about trees down, etc. It took them about 10 minutes to say WHERE the trees were down. I looked at the temp in my car and thought that it is only 70°, not tornado weather at all. The sirens went off 3 other times while we were in Stillwater but no damage there-some very small branches off trees was all we saw.
The TV said that there were bad storms headed for our house but when we got home our patio furniture hadn't even moved so it must have gone around us. There was also a tornado confirmed in Cottage Grove.
The pictures in the Trib this morning showed some pretty big trees down. One woman on the news yesterday said pretty much the same thing-it didn't look like anything so they ignored the sirens until the wind started picking up. They started heading for the basement but before they got down there it was over.
