I am already planning next years holiday to Disney, (we are due to go Nov 29th this year), and was looking at different options. What we would like to do is spend 9 nights at QI Plaza and then 5 nights in a Disney property, something like Wilderness Lodge or Polynesian, (money allowing). Has anyone done this and if so any advice?:thumbsup2 :dance3:

As you can see from the bottom of my signature we have done split holidays for the last 3 years. We always do a split between Disney and Universal Hotels so that we don't need a car (to save on the arguements that would happen if DH went the wrong way:rotfl2: ). IMOH it is an ideal way to get the best out of all the parks....have you thought of a split this way? I think you would notice a massive difference between the off-site hotel you have chosen and the on-site delux.

I am sure, no matter which hotels you chose, you will have a fab time:thumbsup2

we always do this - in fact next year we are staying in 4 different places and taking our two children for the first time - so it could be interesting!!:rotfl:

My advice is to pack wisely - we often have a seperate suitcase for any short stays so that we are not unpacking everything when its just for a few nights.

Also plan your changeover days wisely - otherwise they can become 'wasted' days just hanging around for the next hotel's check-in time. For example this trip, we are planning a character breakfast on our last morning at the poly, followed by typhoon lagoon for a few hours before checking into our villa at 4pm.

I hope this helps a little!!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the good answers. Next year will probably book a twin centre holiday, money and Tesco clubcard deals allowing!:thumbsup2
52 days to go.:dance3: :dance3:

We did 7 nights at POR then 7 nights at QIP in 2001 - wish we had done it the other way round though. After a week on site in WDW moving to I-Drive was a real downer LOL

These days we always do a split-stay, normally a few nights at a DVC resort, few nights at a Timeshare type resort and then the rest at a private villa.

It does help keep the holiday fresh staying at different places, many years ago we used to do more of a traditional 2 centre with a week at a beach resort.

I agree with Amy's comments - if you plan on staying anywhere for just a few nights it really helps if you can just open one suitcase, our split next year is 1/3/3/13 (with the 1st night at the Hyatt MCO) so hopefully we won't unpack all 3 cases till we get to the villa.

I have booked a split stay for April 2008. 10 nights at The Holiday Inn on International Drive followed by 5 nights at The Animal Kingdom Lodge. I don't drive so thought this made sense when staying on I/Drive will do the Universal parks, Seaworld, Discovery Cove, Wet 'n' Wild , Aquatica and take the shuttle to Busch Gardens and for the 2nd part of the holiday will not leave WDW. Been to Orlando twice before and had great times on both occasions (stayed on I/Drive and Kissimmee) but got a bit fed up having to rely on shuttle buses so hopefully this will work out better.

I'm busy planning a 4 way split stay for next year as well. Good to see I'm not the only one!

Current plan is:-3days R.I. Seaworld/1day RPR/6days POP/1day RPR/6days offsite at LBV:laughing:

Thinking I might have got too carried away!

Not driving and I wanted to avoid shuttles as much as possible. Love the FOTL at Universal parks but we can't afford longer stay unfortunately. Happy to live out of suitcases and we only wear shorts and T-shirts in Florida anyway. It's not all booked yet. Still trying to persuade myself that this will be fine!!

Leaving today for our first split holiday - 10 nights at the Vistana Villages (South end of Int. Drive), 7 nights on the gulf coast fishing www.sunvilla.net, then 3 nights at the Hard Rock ................. All in aid of hubby's 40th ................ well thats what I told him :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Have a great time - whatever you choosel
