sorry for the interuption.

Due to links to seriously inappropriate sexual content in violation of our guidelines, the other thread was deleted.

Well shoot...so where should we all take our fanfic talk to all? I totally rely on all your recommendations! :goodvibes

Hi guys. Things have been crazy here. I've been working some insane hours at Worlds of Fun and trying to unpack, although I hvae started rereading Twilight for like the hundredth time!

I came across a qoute in the first book that I thought would be great for our next thread! But gosh darn it I have forgotten it. I will have to post it when I think of it.

One thing I never noticed before: In Twilight the quote on the back is different from the actual quote in the book. On the back it says, "And I didn't know how dominant that part might be" but in the book it says, "And I didn't know how potent that part might be."

So... what is all this stuff going on with comparing Harry Potter to Twilight? Like two different things, right?

people do realize that Harry Potter has been around MUCH longer than Twilight right? or are they seriously that stupid?????:confused:

i don't think it's about which is older, they are so different. the only thing linking them is robert pattinson.

I mean it's all over the internet and the entertainment news shows are always running a comparison piece. It's two completely different franchises.

Exactly, I think it's weird to compare them only because Robert was in both movies. i guess Twilight is so hot they are trying to get it into anything now, lol.

They are both brilliant! :}

People were screaming when the New Moon trailer came on like hysterical! So people can love both :}

I don't think the comparisons have anything to do with Robert Pattinson. It all about the popularity of the books. When the first Harry Potter book was released it quickly became a pop culture phenomenon so when Twilight was released and everyone was going ga-ga over it comparisons were made. I have seen many articles about Stephenie Meyer refering to her as the next J.K Rowling. I think the two are compared by the sheer popularity of the the two sets of books and the amount of fans the books have generated. Can you think of any other books (other than Lord of the Rings perhaps) that have this kind of fandom?? (Is fandom even a real word??)

the big difference though is that the really crazy Twilight fandom started late...the first few books had already been out quite a while before it started getting REALLY huge (I mean I remember when at least the first 2 came out, I didn't know anyone else who'd really even heard of the series..), whereas with Harry Potter it was crazy from the get go..

I don't get the comparisons either. It is totally apples to oranges with Harry Potter and Twilight. While they are both huge franchises, I believe that HP has a broader audience. I know of plenty of guys who have seen and read every Harry Potter book and movie, but wouldn't be caught dead reading or seeing anything to do with Twilight. My own boyfriend would rather take a hot poker to the eye then suffer through another movie (and I keep jokingly telling him to start warming his poker up for November :laughing:)
