Actually, Edward is 17. New Moon was my least favorite, but I'm not a Jacob fan. I did really enjoy the ending though. Right now I am re-reading the series and I'm on Eclipse. You have to read the partial draft of Midnight Sun. I can't wait for her to finish it. Hopefully she will do all the books based on Edward's perspective. Glad you are enjoying it.

I am on Eclipse, too. This is the third time I've read them and I seriously cannot get enough. I was hoping that she would do all the books from his perspective, but I don't think she would. I'd take MS being completed.

Just saw the movie again with a friend who own the first book, but hadn't started to read it. She LOVED it!! I created a newborn!!! Yay!!! :thumbsup2

:cheer2:

I will also say that I loved the movie way more this second time. As travelmel said, I was able to just relax with the film and stop comparing it to the book. I also caught some of those details you all have been talking about. Plus, it was just nice to admire Edward (Rob..) for a couple of hours.

I'm glad you liked it the second time! :thumbsup2

I was one of the few people who cheered upon Robs entrance when I saw the movie the first time. I couldn't help myself! I was so excited to see "Edward." The Edward. ;) It was one, loud "Whoop!" and I think I was in good taste. The energy was all hyped up in the room.. i think it actually alleviated some tension!

Question... For those of you who own the audio books, how are they? Just curious who is speaking in them and if they are good to listen to. Thanks!

I'm really tempted to try it in this way. Why not! You can always turn it off if you hate it, right? :confused3

And just for the heck of it...

hey OT here for a sec but I know that CP is going to WDW but is anyone going to DL next week? Gail, Sunny Bunny, Mellllllllllllllllllllllllliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisssssssssssssssssaaaaaaaaaaa????

Heck no, I'm not due back to DL until Christmas NEXT YEAR! :scared1: Should I start my PTR?? :lmao:

If anyone wants a Rob fix, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is on ABC Family right now... :goodvibes:

For the same reason I don't want to see Leonardo DiCaprio in What's Eating Gilbert Grape. I will decline Rob in HP. Until, that is, after my DD's and I finish the series.

:rotfl2: I had to restrain myself from jumping up and yelling, "There he is!" I just clapped quietly to myself and said it! DD did say I was smiling through the whole movie....

No, DD13 and I went in October to make up for when she was sick for our entire family trip in March. That's the last we'll probably go until 2010. Waaahhh!

come on guys...you cant be happy with Catherine really??? I really think it will be much better now...Look at Harry Potter they had 3 directors and each one was better besides Stephanie is not going to let them screw up her books like that...JK Rowling was right alongside each director and I think Stephanie will too...watch mark my word it will be much better and you will be alot happier with the results:hug:

I hope they do something different with Edward and running. Can't remember if there are any in NM, but that kinda bothered me in Twilight.

OH! Just thought of something!! In Volterra, in the alley....he's got his shirt off!!! :)

When I read CP's post about another director, I though of HP. I would really like the director of third HP movie (Alfonso Cuarón) would be great. This was my favorite HP movie. He also redid a Shirly Temple movie called the Little Princess (which I was prepared to hate since I love the original move, but it was wonderful).

Not sure what else he has done, but I really like his style although both movies are completely different.

Anyone else have someone in mind for the new director role?

I seriously hope not. I remember seeing Harry Potter 3 at the midnight showing at Down Town Disney. We're talking sold out days in advance, die hard fans of the books. I remember walking out and nobody had a single positive thing to say. Everybody was asking- what has he done?! He's a great movie maker, but he sucks at staying true to the book. If you read on IMdB trivia the things he wanted to incorporate that JKR nixed, you can see that he did not have a good grasp on the world of Harry Potter.

I've since come to appreciate POA as a good movie, but he sacrficed so much of the book to make an artsy film. I'd be terrified that he would do the same thing with New Moon. (Incidentally, he's also the one who convinced Mike Newell, director of GOF that it could be done in one movie instead of two).

Just thought of something: I completely understand where Summit is coming from on the time issue. It's a huge part of the series that the vampires and werewolves don't age. Make up can only cover up so much and when you consider the age of several of the actors (Kristen and Taylor in particular), they are working within a limited time frame. With three more movies, time is not a luxury they have. I do hope that they give New Moon a bigger budget. Each subsequent movie is going to require more and better special effects, and we've seen what happens when they do not have a proper effects budget.

You know, I know I'm in a minority here, but I really loved Taylor Lautner as Jacob. I thought he acted really well in the movie. Maybe that's because I'm not really up on the film industry and haven't seen anything else with him in it, so I don't have preconceived notions of what he's like... Anyway, I didn't think the wig was THAT bad, and I just really thought he was great as the cheerful Jacob who becomes Bella's sun in New Moon. (my favorite is when Billy says "Jake here's been bugging me to come visit," and he looks so cutely embarressed: "Great, Dad-- thanks."

Anyway, he's also very, very good looking. What a fabulous smile! And I'm sure they can come up with ways to make him look bigger if needed. But actually, that's not that crucial to the story-- I mean, since a lot of things get lost in transition from book to movie, that's not such a major one. He doesn't have to get super tall to become a huge wolf.

I hope Summit coughs up for a better budget! And I'll be anxious to find out who they get to direct!

I completely agree avalon! He has more of a tenor voice than I expected, but even that wasn't bad. He had the easy going personality that Jacob has in the beginning. I know that I tend to color my perceptions of characters based on what i have read throughout the series, but I think we need to remember that in the first part of the series that is how Jacob was. Kind of awkward, easy going, pleasant smile. I thought Taylor did a good job. I forgot he was wearing a wig (but then again, I can't see the contacts either).

Count me in as another nervous one that they are changing directors. I'll admit, the first time I saw the movie I thought it was horrible. But after I reevaluated it, and saw it three more times ;), I thought it was great! She stayed almost completely true to the book, sans little details... I also knew what to expect with the next movie, because she did the first one.. and now? It could go completely the opposite way for me.

I liked Taylor Lautner too! Jacob is supposed to be a little goofy and young. I think he embodied that very well. I hope they stick with him. I think it would be a really big distraction, to me at least, if they changed him to some big huge dude, who vaguely resembles him.

And I thought he was really cute in his last scene, with that skinny tie! But I've always been Team Switzerland. I like them both for different reasons.

I am dipping my toe into this thread....

I JUST got my copy of Twilight from the library, and will begin reading it soon..Cant wait!

You won't be sleeping for a night or two while you finish the book. Don't say we didn't warn you!

I recommend you stay away from reading this thread until you are done. I'd say come on by and drop us a line about what you're liking or whatever but i wouldn't read much! Too many spoilers! (not that I mind).

Exactly.. in the first book.

I don't mind Jacob either. I think he's cute and talented and as a real person he seems pretty grounded. I just don't see him as a leading man for Bella as he will have to be in New Moon. IMHO

I loved him in Sharkboy and LG. He was a wild little thing. He certainly has it in him to do some acting. He's a ball of energy.

We'll see. :) Maybe he'll surprise me.

I handed Twilight to our pastor's wife last week... yesterday she e-mailed me and asked... "So... umm... do you have New Moon?" Yes! Another for my coven! She has to wait for my MIL to finish it, though, but I'm guessing that will be in two days flat, at the rate MIL is reading.

So our pastor's wife sidled up to me in church today to hand me back the first book she'd borrowed. I had e-mailed her back to say that I'd get her New Moon as soon as MIL is done with it, and then I told her about Midnight Sun and sent the link. She said, looking very tired, "I was up half the night reading Midnight Sun. It's SOOOO GOOD!" They have a 10 month old baby, so she's sleep deprived anyway! Yikes!

Then MIL called me to say she'd gone to see the movie by herself today, and enjoyed it very much, though she was confused about some of the changed parts. I just gave her New Moon yesterday and already she's halfway through. Also, she's all annoyed because she's been trying to create newborns herself and so far nobody wants to read a "vampire" book-- including my sister-in-law. Kinda funny, she wants to create a coven of 70-ish newborns like herself! :rotfl:

That's a thought. Did you ever realize that there are no vampires that seem to have been created when they were older? With the possible exception of Caius. And I guess I'm not sure how old Alistair is. But otherwise, they're all twenty-something beautiful people. Hmm. What would a vampire look like who was already wrinkly?
