So tonight my DH was telling me a stupid work story and in the middle of it he says to me, casually eek: ), "Yea and this woman at work told me her nephew, well, sort of like her nephew, was in Twilight..." and he continues on.

ME:

Wha??? Wha?????

"Who was he??"

DH: "Oh.. one of the Native American kids... so I said to her, knowingly, 'Ohhh.. a werewolf'" and DH proceeds to look very smug.

ME: I grabbed him up by the shirt around his neck and pulled him close, "THIS IS SERIOUS!"

"I need to KNOW"

DH: ..... "something.. trimble..."

ME: YES, that's Sam Uley! (leah's brother, right?.. sorry Avalon, I type faster than I think, I knew better!)

ME: "This could be my IN to the filming of New Moon!! YOU NEED TO FIND OUT AND I MEAN IT!!!!!" I was fairly pained in the face as I said this.

Poor DH..... so yes, I might find out some inside details about the where's of filming IF (and that's a big "if") he gets recast as Sam.

Something I noticed: Two of the "frat boys" who attacked Bella are now playing in a movie together called, Everyman's War. They must be local actors as the movie is filmed near here in Mt Hood.

I'm all for putting in fresh faces (Laurent was obviously not black in the book but he worked out great, the "regular kids" had some new faces, etc)

Was thinking about Laurent and the other casting differences more... I agree, I thought Laurent was great. I'm looking forward to seeing him in New Moon. ("I must say, you do smell simply... mouthwatering." )

You know, though, help me out here. One thing Stephanie Meyer did was keep saying that ALL vampires have pale skin. What, there are no black vampires? The most she ever talks about is how some have an "olive toned skin" which looks odd with the pallor. Even Amun and Kebi from Egypt have the "olive pallor." And when she describes the Mexican vampire Maria, she's described as pale although obviously with Latina features. I think SM would have done better to be a bit more... racially diverse? I liked that the first movie was cast more diverse, both racially and character-wise. Everybody was pretty dang waspy in the book, but in the movie, the characters-- even the "regular kids"-- weren't so... you know... Mary Sue. For example, Angela is described as tall, blonde hair blue eyes and kinda goody-two-shoes. In the movie, she is still nice, but she's a photographer and dresses interestingly, and makes jokes about Speedo padding on the swim team ("we're talking, Olympic-sized!")

Granted, in real life Forks is probably quite WASPy; seemed that way during my short visit there. You don't get a lot of diversity in a small, economically depressed logging town. But I think at least the vampires should be able to be portrayed as more racially diverse, especially when they're from all over the country and the world.

I think most of the diversity we saw was a directorial statement. RIP KH You will be missed. (by me at least!)
