I missed the VMAs... darn it....HEY! Did Anyone see "True Blood" on HBO last night?:confused3 VERY similar to Twilight, only, its a bar keep that falls in love with a Vampire in Louisana, as they are a "known cult.";) Not hidden like in Twilight!;)

That HBO show is based on a book series by Charlaine Harris that I started reading based on people's suggestions on this thread! It's very good but yes, very unlike Twilight.:thumbsup2

Thanks to this really long thread I started reading these books. I'm 1/2 way through Eclipse right now.

They're just getting ready to head to Seattle. I can't wait to see how that part turns out.

I guess I need to go get the Sookie books. Does anybody know the name of the first one?

Thanks for posting this. I just finished Dead as a Doornail and didn't realize there were any more after that. I got the idea for this series earlier on in this thread and I do enjoy these books.

That host on the VMAs was awful. Who is he anyway? Some British VJ? Or does he have some significance other than his ridiculous hair "style"?

.

He's a British comedian and quite a famous one as well. I'm a big fan of his! He is absolutely adorable and funny!

I'm on the third book. I am reading this series along with Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series. I had read the 1st 4 books from that years ago (she's up to 6 now with the 7th due out next year) and loved them. I didn't read anymore originally because they were published years apart and I had lost track of where the story was going-it's very complicated. I started re-reading the Outlander series because so many Twilight Moms were talking about it-the main male character is very popular with women kind of like Edward is. I think because they are both very protective and romantic :lovestruc . The Outlander series is SO good and takes me awhile to get through so it's keeping me busy. I like the Sookie books too but for different reasons-they are very funny and romantic in a different way.:goodvibes

Thanks for posting about these other books! I have a lot of reading to do! I also was mad watching how the host on the VMA's totally cut off Rob before he got to speak! I was yelling at the TV!LOL It was exciting seeing them there. I thought they all looked great.
BTW, the host was in the movie "Forgetting Sarah Marshal" I believe that's the name of the movie, it is due out on DVD soon.

Twilight
Rated PG-13 For some violence and a scene of sensuality.

No surprise there!

I'm always trying to get my students to read (I teach 7th grade sped at the moment) and I mentioned Twilight to one of my little girls, it seemed like it would be right up her aisle. I went to the library to see if they had them and they didn't. The middle school librarian looked into them and told me that she is thinking about getting them for our library! I'm excited because with the movie coming out, it might encourage the students to read. I told her I would be hesitant to have Breaking Dawn in the middle school library just because of the adult content, but I didn't think the other three would be a problem.

Speaking of schools and Twilight, I sent an email to our reading coordinator on Tuesday to tell her that I want to pay for the accelerated reader tests for the 4 books in the Twilight Saga. I'm waiting to hear from her.

I told her that my DS stopped reading New Moon halfway through it because if he doesn't get so many points per quarter, he loses points on his average in reading. He said it wasn't worth finishing it even though he was enjoying it. He started reading something else. My DD didn't even start New Moon for the same reason.

Over the summer, I spoke to many of their friends who have read at least Twilight. I know this will be a popular test with the kids.

I'm so jealous of the person who got to watch the movie to rate it. It must be close to being completely edited and done if it's rated - hopefully we'll see some new trailers soon!

Oh, I didn't even think of that! A new trailer would be great!!!

PG-13 sounds right to me. That rating can be a tad racy too, so here's hoping the film hasn't been dumbed down or scrubbed clean. If anything I'm hoping it's more violent and "sexy" than the book!

I can't wait for the new trailer for the movie! (hopefully there will be one soon!) I'm almost done with the first book too. :D

Your posted reminded me that I had picked up the first 3 Outlander books at a used bookstore a few weeks ago (I'm kind of a book hoarder). I swear I read them back in highschool (6 or 7 years ago), but I can't remember them very well, except that I think they were REALLY good. My drama teacher actually recommended them to me...now I'm excited about starting them!

I just received the REST of the set in the mail today! Now, which one is next...Eclipse? Or New Moon? HELP!:confused3
