TWILIGHT vampire book!!!!!

I'm still striking out. Now I'm on a mission and it's driving me crazy, lol! I tried the florists in town, and apparently silk flowers have seasons which is something that boggles my mind since it's not like you have to grow them. Apparently tulips are strictly spring and/or summer flowers.

I called the Michael's in Columbia (a 1.5 hour drive) and they don't have them in the proper colors. They have ruffled red tulips, but not the red and white. If anybody runs acros a place online that I can order them, I will be forever in your debt! Or in the words of Jacob, I will owe you a lifetime of servitude.

I thought I would post this for all my fellow Twilight obsessed DISers. I sent this to the Stephenie's webmaster in regards to the New Moon FAQ:

Seth,
I was reading the New Moon FAQ where it stated that the flower on the cover is a Ruffled Tulip but Stephenie didn't know what the symbolism is.

Tulips are the symbol of true love, with red being the most strongly associated. The legend goes that a young Persian named Farhad fell in love with a woman Shirin. When he got word that she had died, he stabbed himself in the heart, and from his body a red tulip grew, becoming the ultimate symbol of perfect love. White tulips represent worthiness and forgiveness. Variegated tulips symbolize beautiful eyes.

So as you can see, the tulip on the cover holds a wealth of meaning for the book. Here is a website that explains the meaning (sans legend) http://www.proflowers.com/flowerguide/flowermeanings/tulip-meanings.aspx?ref=organicgglgeneric

Where are all the Twilighters today? :(

I can't believe we still have over two months until the movie comes out. I realized I've been thinking of going to a midnight release, but I don't know if they're going to do that since it's the first movie in the series. (It seems like those tend to be saved for sequels of popular series.) I know that nobody can *know* at this point, but do you all think theatres will do midnight releases?

ETA: Hastings now has Twilight posters!

Am I crazy? I thought the movie came out on Dec. 12, but its Nov. 21st? I mean that's great, I was a little nervous b/c the later date would be during my law school finals, but when did it happen?

It got changed not long after they announced the Harry Potter release was being pushed back. I think they are trying to capitalize on the void left by Harry Potter.

Funny that you guys are talking about the movie. I had dinner with my parents tonight and a pre-teen (12) they babysit. I wrote "Vampire movie" on their calendar so my mom, pre-teen, my bff and myself keep the date open. I'm taking my 3 favorite girls with me. I have to admit that I'm hesitant to go on opening night. Do you guys think there will be screaming in the theatre every time Edward comes on screen? This will annoy me to no end and cause me to throw popcorn and start shhing people....

I certainly hope not. I can't see it happening in my small town. I know when I went to the third Harry Potter at the AMC at DTD the manager came out onto the stage and specifically requested that people keep a lid on it during the movie, and everybody complied. I've been to the midnight premiere of every Harry Potter since, as well as both Narnias and Batman, and never had a problem with excess noise. People seemed to behave themselves. It's still a movie, so I can't imagine people acting like that. Maybe I'm just being naive.

I don't think you're being naive. My question came from watching you tube videos of the comic con panel. The behavior of the women/girls in the audience was ridiculous. They SCREAMED through the entire thing to the point where I think they needed water thrown on them. Robert Pattinson is an actor and sadly Edward Cullen is not real, please get a grip.

I am seriously going through withdrawal right now. I finished all four books in 6 days and read all the extras on SM website. I even read Midnight Sun which I tried so hard not to do.:rolleyes1 My dd13 finished her book this morning and started reading Twilight and now I am seriously thinking of picking up another copy so I can read it again.:upsidedow I've never been one to read a book more than once. I also have the audiobooks on hold at the library. I guess I'm obsessed!:scared:

I've noticed there is a special edition of I think both New Moon and Eclipse. Do these have something different in them than the original books? I've tried looking it up and can't find it anywhere.

I also have watched some of the clips from the movie and I'm not sure if I'm going to like it as much as the books. For one the actors seem to be all wrong for the part and the acting from the clips seems a little poor. I do not really like the girl that is playing Bella. I watched some of her interviews and she seems like she would like to be anywhere other than discussing the movie. I will definatly go with my dd to see it, and truly I hope I'm not disapointed.

As far as I know, the special editions just came out later and have the first chapter of the following book in them. So nothing helpful for you since you have all the follow-on books!

I feel the same way about the movie. Really none of the characters are how I picture them. But I felt the same way about the Harry Potter books/movies at first and now I can't picture the characters any other way. So I'll give it a shot. I kind of expect to be disappointed in the first movie, but will start to enjoy subsequent ones more and someday go back and really enjoy the first one!

I figured that was where your question was coming from. Somebody sent me the fight scene link to YouTube and I found that to be very annoying. I know that it can be easy to get caught up in the atmosphere in a place like that, so I am hoping that is all it is.

Why on earth were they at Comic Con? That has been confusing to me, Twilight is not a comic.

For the record Comic Con is not all about comics. It's alot of Sci Fi, Horror and Supernatural stuff as well. Hence the vampires. Many movies [Such as the Simpsons which is also not a comic] and tv shows have had panels there also.

Comic Con doesn't necessarily mean you're there for Comics. Sci Fi, Horror, Supernatural...stuff like that is there. Some tv shows, too. :)

OK - so did any of you see the cast on the VMAs last night?

Was I the only one who was upset when the host cut Robert P. off when he was trying to speak?

Yeah, I was like, let Rob speak!! Taylor Lautner seems amazingly self-possessed for how young he is. Is it just me or did he get taller? Kristen was wearing spiky shoes and still seemed small next to him.

Yeah - he looked so cute!!! And you are right, very poised.

Kristen looked just a little dazed and confused to me. :confused3

Saw the VMA's last night too and couldn't figure out why they gave Taylor Lautner the mic first. He's not even a main player in the first film/book. The more I hear Kristen Stewart speak, the less I like her and the less she seems like "Bella".

The VMAs were horrible. Really, I wasted 2 hours of my life for that...
Kristen looked very lovely though.

I tivo'd the VMA's so I did not waste too much time on them lol I pretty much fast forwarded through much of it. I think Kristen just always looks nervous,(even the way she walked out) Why did they just cut Rob off like that, he even looked shocked.

PMart

To me Kristen's awkward-ness is so Bella...the way they make Bella out to be. She is almost painful to watch though.
