DD11 & I went shopping on Sat, she needs some dress clothes for church, & some spring casual clothes. After searching for several hours, we came home with.....1 pair of sandals:rotfl:. It seems as if the clothing in the girls' department is looking a little too young, but she's too small (very thin) to fit in the junior dept (and most of those clothes look a little mature for her. We live in a small town, so we don't have too many options, we've ordered online from Justice & pskids before, just wondering if there's any place else we can try?

What about Old Navy? I've always been very happy with their selection for both children and adults.

If she's still in kids' sizes, Lands' End has some nice stuff. Also Children's Place. You can order online.

Burlington Coat Factory and Kohls are usually my best bets for church clothes. Sometimes I luck out and find dressy outfits at Ross. My Michelle is a good brand.

Aerie and Hollister size xs runs really tiny. They are great for size 1 jeans also. Most tweens love their clothing.

American eagle had an online kids line 77 kids I think it is cute.

My DD11 is petite for her age (size 7/8) so we have had similar problems.

She thinks that most of the clothes at Childrens Place are either too babyish or otherwise not her style. Lands End is hit or miss - most too young too in her size.

For casual clothes, we shop GapKids, Abercrombie Kids and sometimes Justice (she loves their mesh shorts) or Old Navy.

For dressier clothing, we shop Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, Kohls, Belk, Macy's

Good luck!

I get a lot from Old Navy. We do Justice and P.S., too, although dd10 thinks she's too old for Justice (she's 60 pounds - she'll be wearing Justice way longer than she thinks). Gap also works.

My dd is very thin. We had the best luck at that stage at Aero. At that age Justice and Children's Place clothes would embarrass them as too young.

I thought I would hate Aero, but I actually like it. The stores are well-lit, the workers are extremely polite and helpful and they have great clearance and sales. Their t-shirts and jeans are practically the public school standards around here. They have jeans that come in 00 and x-tra small t-shirts, so it's good for that transition size.

Also, remember that some of the looks that seem too old or too low cut for her can be helped with the addition of a cami or a T underneath.

DD11 is almost 5 feet tall but only weights 62 pounds! :scared1: It's hard, but I manage to find tops and pants for her, although it takes herculean effort. HOWEVER.......dresses are impossible. Do you know how narrow/skinny a 62 pounder of that height is? To get a dress to fit her chest would take a 6X or 7/8 and that dress would be a micro-mini. If I get one to fit her in length, it would wrap around her twice. There is no altering a dress to that extent. And I can't sew. I can shop at the "skinniest" store in town and they're still too big.

I'm stumped.

Same here! Aero has been a good transition out of Justice. Lots of their tops are low cut on DD, so she just wears a cami underneath.

Also, Johnnie B. is pricey but cute, and if you ask for a catalog you'll usually get free shipping and maybe a discount.

I've not heard of Aero, and I'm not sure we have them around here. Do they have a website?

Aero is short for Aeropostale, they do have a website to order clothes off of if you don't have one in your area~

Good luck, OP, I know how hard it is to dress a tween in appropropriate clothing to fit her size~
We all have our personal challenges! Mine was to find appropriate school shoes for my DD13 who at the time of being 11 had a size 9 shoe! (yeah, she's gonna be tall :))

DD10 is still wearing a fair amount of Justice, but I know that will change soon as she goes into middle school. That seems to be the cutoff even though a lot of the 6th graders still fit into Justice sizes.

DD12 wears a lot of Aero. It's very popular here and a more affordable option than Abercrombie & Fitch or Hollister. as a previous poster said, cami's are the solution to any modesty issues. Aero has them in a rainbow of colors and patterns. DD12 will still wear her Justice cami's too, they still fit and the logo isn't too noticible.

Even harder than finding clothing that fits and is age appropriate - bathing suits. good luck!

My girls also like Rue 21, they also carry xsmall sizes, but for pants, we have had a hard time there, and MANY shirt styles are too low cut so we have A LOT of tank tops to go under shirts. Luckily it is very in right now to layer a tank under another shirt, so that works well. I completely understand your problems, I have a nearly 13 year old (turns 13 tomorrow!) that wears girls size 12slim adjustable waist pants, she can use the 14's, but only can keep up the ones that are super slim straight legs, the other 14's even slims with adjustable waists are SO big on her. But she's a 7th grader,so doesn't WANT to wear little kid stuff. To complicate it further I have a dd10 who outweighs her older sister by a good 15 pounds, easily wears junior size 1's, and has started developing enough to need a cup bra instead of just a sports or cami style.

My 11-yr-old wears a size 9, but is not going to be tall. Just big footed. At least we'll be able to share shoes. ;)

Abercrombie is great because their kids line is virtually identical to their adult line, so it certainly isn't babyish. PS from Aero is also great for casual clothing. My 8yr old dd won't be caught dead in Children's Place clothing, so for an 11 yr old I wouldn't even suggest it. Believe it or not Target has some cute knit and cotton sundresses that are an empire waist and tie in the back, so you can get the size L or XL & the tie would adjust it well.

Forever 21 also has a girls section now, though some of the clothes seem more fit for middle schoolers and high schoolers. But if you have tiny 13 and 14 year olds its worth checking out. A lot of it is still appropriate for younger kids and its cute. The one thing might be length with dresses if its anything like the actual forever 21 clothes. They do have a website.

But I also recommend Aero. My little sister was tiny when she started middle school but still wanted to be fashionable. So she shopped there and just wore their smallest size. Our store even carries their childs size pants sometimes, so they look like the adult pants but just fit better.
