I lived in Williamsport, PA when flight 800 went down.
There was a group of HS students on-board from our neighboring town, Montoursville. I think the group was 27 students and two chaperones.
Two co-workers of mine lost their daughters. One of my DH's co-workers was the father to yet another daughter.
Everyone in our town either knew someone on the plane or their family.
It was a very sad time indeed. I can't believe it's been ten years. I remember the day after when they were still searching the water and there was no news. The parents left for NY that night.
One of the women i worked with took it very hard and even on meds was still pretty distraught because her daughter was her life. I don't think she ever moved on with her grief.
The other woman i knew moved on and used her money from the lawsuit to establish a scholarship in her daughter's name and a few years later went on to adopt two little girls from Romainia. (Her DD would be looking down from heaven proudly that her mom used the funds this way.)
