TV Welcome

In all the vlogs that we've watched and from sites I've looked at, I always see someone walk into their room and the tv says "welcome Smith family." This has never happened for us in all of our trips. I know it's not a huge deal but man I would like to see it one time.

Depends on the resort. Not all resorts have been upgraded to the new system.

It's hit and miss for us as well.

It was reported at the recent annual DVC Condo Association Meeting that the TV upgrades are 60% complete.

I thought it was odd that they did not put them in SSR when they did the refurb. At the time they had already put them in RIV and Grand Destino Tower. We recently stayed at AKV and it had the new TV. Honestly, besides it saying the parties name. We prefer the old one. The volume on the guide screen is 2-3 times louder than the other channels. So you have to turn the volume way down before you go to guide or it blasts music. Plus we miss the channel that scrolled park times and played music. That channel we would just leave on and listen to the Disney music. It was just part of being at Disney and now it is gone.

We noticed it earlier this month at AKVJ. Didn't even realize they were making that change/upgrade - was nice to see!

Unless I'm thinking of a different 'scrolling' Disney channel than you're referring to, that channel is still available - you just have to change the channel. It doesn't default. The channel that shows MK hours and special events, then moves to EPCOT, HS, AK, DS, etc? We had it on at AKV.

Based upon our recent travels, can confirm that Riviera, Old Key West, Grand Floridian and Grand Californian all have the enhanced TV. Bay Lake Tower does not. Eventually it will be in all of them.

BLT doesn't even have HD on 1/2 the channels in the studios....

I was at GFVs for a week and then moved to BWVs for a week in October and never saw.
I go 2-3 times a year and never saw my name on the TV.

Going to OKW in February, I'll see how that goes LOL

I finally had the new screen at VGF 2 weeks ago, but didn't have it when we moved to BWV. I had not had it before and we have stayed at VGF (prior to update), Poly, BLT, and Kidani.

We had it at kidani, not at BLT or BWV.

With BLT and BWV due for full refurbishments in 2023/24, it makes sense that they would be near the bottom of the list. They can install the TV tech during the refurb rather than touching each resort / room multiple times.
