TV specials for the 60th?

Does anyone know if anything is happening on tv? I know they've been doing little things here and there for the 60th, but I was hoping for something big on the real anniversary! It looks like abc has its regular schedule for Friday night. Google search has turned up nothing (and dis search).

They really should. The televised specials are amazing time capsules. When was the last one they did? DCA opening? It's sad they've abandoned that.

Every time I saw that in my searches, I assumed it was last February and I missed it

I heard about the Walt one on PBS-excited about that!
I guess I'll have to make my own special!!

That seems really strange to broadcast a 60th anniversary event AFTER the actual anniversary year, but I'll take what I can get. It's been so long since Disney has done a televised special to commemorate something theme park related. They used to do it all the time.

I miss the televised specials. I recall the 30th special from when I was a kid. I remember my parents recorded it for me. I used to watch it over and over again. Drew Barrymore as the host. I can still remember all of the songs that the guests sang. And the big finish by Peter Allen coming down Main Street. I showed this to my son not too long ago and I still knew all the words to the Peter Allen song. That was a great great special and memory for me. They need to bring something like this back.

We had the 15th anniversary special for DW on tape. My dad programmed the vcr because we were out at the ice capades when it was on It had a sweet Air Supply performance. I probably watched it 20 times! Luckily, I've been able to find it on youtube.
