Any ideas on tux rentals? I was thinking that we could just get away with the men wearing nice black suits and ties that match our colors......has anyone else done this? Is it a hassle to rent a tux, and how do you go about doing so?

Hi! :)
DF and I are wondering about the same thing. However, we don't have a suit for him either! Carolyn Allen's is steaming my dress before the wedding, and it turns out that Carolyn Allen's also rents tuxes, so we're going to look into getting his tux from Carolyn Allen's.
I'd check with your event planner/wedding coordinator to see if he/she has suggestions for out-of-state brides/grooms. Honestly, I don't see anything wrong with the men wearing suits with coordinating ties. It is *your* wedding! So, go with whatever is most appealing to you and your guys :)

Where is Carolyn Allen's located? How are you going to transport your dress? That was my next question.......

www.carolynallens.com they are located in orlando. You send them your tux mearurements, they will deliver the tuxes to your hotel, you do a fitting, and they will then deliver any pieces the next day that didn't fit.

we used carolyn allens in march for my guys tux rentals, it was so convinient they brought the tuxes to our room & did fittings in the room too a few days before the wedding. i also used carolyn allens for mine & my ladies dress steamings, she came the morning of & steamed my dress, veil, etc. i was pleased with all the services & would recommend them to others.

Thank you so much!! I checked out the site and I think we have a winner!! Any ideas on getting my dress safely down there? We are flying from Indianapolis the day before the ceremony........

I'm going to bring my dress on the plane as a carry-on. I'm going to have to fold it in half in a garment bag, but at least I know where it is at all times!
I've heard of other brides shipping them to either Carolyn Allen's or to the resort they're staying at before they arrive. :confused3 I thought of doing that initially but I would be crushed if it didn't arrive on time!

If you have any more questions, we could probably brainstorm together and come up with some darn good answers!

Oh- when is your wedding? Intimate or Custom? Details! Details! :cheer2:

Our wedding is March 9, 2007. We are having an intimate and pushing the limit with our guests, exactly 18 total! We are getting married at Seabreeze Point and then we are going to make reservations at a restaurant for an informal reception. We are thinking Citricos, O'Hana's, or Yachtsmen's. Decisions! Decisions!! We are staying at POFQ for the first half of the week and then Shades of Green for the second half. 10 days total.

I am with you, I think I will have to take my dress as a carry on as well. I can't bear shipping it or checking it and then having my dress lost or on its way to China or something! :confused3 I would be devastated. Plus, we are being gutsy and pushing our luck. We are not arriving until the day before.

What are your details?

I used Carollyn Allens also for our Tuxes and dress steaming.
We gave them rough measurements on their online form, then they came to our room 3 days before to do a proper fit. They took the suits away and altered them and delivered them back the morning of the wedding and did the dress steaming then also. They were fabulous.

I agree - Carolyn Allens were great!

We ordered over the internet from the UK. Dad managed to measure his leg size incorrectly and when they had their fitting his trousers were 3 inches too short!! CAs sorted everything out though - the boys all looked very handsome on the day and I liked the fact they all matched :)

Hmm- seeing all your beautiful wedding photos in your sigs makes me want to put some back into mine...

I worry that since we won't have all of the guys there until the day before the wedding that we'll be tight on time if any of the tuxes don't fit. Seems most of the posts on here say you did it a few days before the wedding - anyone have a tux fitting the day before??

They will probably ask you to go for a fitting at a tailors close to your home for an exact measurement, then they could bring the suits the day before your wedding to ensure a fit. They will try and accommodate you as best they can. I spoke to Candice and she was wonderful, why dont you phone them and check this would be ok. I am sure it would as long as you have a professional fit before hand.

I shipped my dresses from PA via UPS Ground on Thursday morning 4/20 and they guaranteed me that it would be at Carolyn Allen's by Monday, 4/24. Cost for shipping two dresses was $19.20. The UPS store gave me a printout of the tracking information, etc. so I could check on the dress on-line if I wanted to. Our vow renewal wasn't actually until a week later on 5/1. However, my dress arrived at Carolyn Allen's on Monday as scheduled and Carolyn called me on my cell phone on Monday (we were at Universal) to tell me it had arrived. They steamed my dress and my daughter's dress (shipped together) and delivered them to our hotel on Saturday, April 29 with the guy's tuxes (my FIL and my two boys) FIL's tux was okay, but the boys had some sizing issues with theirs so she took all the pieces that didn't fit and delivered the correct sizes on Monday morning. Our vow renewal was at 4pm so Monday morning was fine for us.

I would highly recommend Carolyn Allen's. They were very helpful and easy to work with.
