My family is going on a 7 night cruise and some of the male members of our party would like to rent tuxes for the formal nights. Anybody do this before? What is the cost? How do they do the fittings?

Thanks in advance

Just a thought - if you thing they will ever use a tux again - check out Ebay. I got one for DH for less than what I would have paid for the rental ($85).

Same here. First cruise paid $85 through CruiseLine Formal Wear. I had to measure. For our upcoming cruise I bought DH and DS12 tuxes on ebay and they were Brand new. I paid $79 for DH and $50 for DS. They both fit and look great on them.

It's my brother in law and my father in law that I am trying to find the info. about the tux rentals for...they just want to rent? My husband owns his. Does anybody know about this rental question? Do we get any info. when our documents arrive?

My DH rented on the first cruise. It is $85 through cruiseline formal wear. They have a web site and I believe it is cruiselineformalwear.com. I had to measure or you can go to a local tux shop and have them measure for you. You will get the
info when you get the cruise doc's. The Tux was in the stateroom when we arrived and the housekeeper had it returned upon our departure. It was a very nice tux. Came with 2 shirts.

We just got home from the August 17th Western cruise. I used the flyer that came with our cruise package regarding a tux rental. I used the website to place the order and as for measuring I ran to the mall for a 2 minute complimentary out of town tux rental measurement. Place the order on the web and the tux was delivered to my stateroom by our host Erwin sometime before we returned from dinner the first night aboard.

I did get the black and white jacket package just for the many photographs that we planned on taking. On the evening of the semi formal dinner my daughters and I were able to get our photos taken with the captain. I was glad I spent the little extra money on the two jacket package. I believe that rate for the tux packages are 85.00 and 120.00 depending on whether you get 1 or 2 dinner jackets.

I will say that please don't at all think that it is required to wear a suit or a tux for the formal and semi formal affairs aboard the ship. Our family decided after our first Disney cruise that it would be a fun thing to do and since we don't plan on cruising again for 2 to 3 years we think we made the right decision.

When you rent the tux's do you get them for the whole 7 days or is it for the 1 or 2 formal nights? $120 isn't bad at all for having it for the 2 nights at what it would cost to buy them, etc.

When you rent a tux on a cruise you get the formal wear for the entire cruise. On Disney cruises your stateroom host or hostess hangs them in your room on the evening of the first or second night and on the last evening of your 7 day cruise he or she will pick them up.

The black and white dinner jacket does make a statement and more men then not do wear a tux. The photos are wonderful and your family will cherish them for years and years. As for buying a tux you can spend anywhere from 175.00 and up depending on the quality and the name.

Good luck and have a great time.

Has anyone rented a tux for a three year old DS for the cruise? I can't see buying him something he will only where once before he outgrows it. Were the prices the same as for the adult rentals?

Thanks!

I believe that the price is the same no matter what the age. If you check cruiselineformal.com they don't list different prices for children.

Personally I'd check ebay - you could probably pick one up really cheap - less than $20

Bought (on eBay) brand new tuxes for DS7 & DS9 for $50 and that includes jacket, pants, shirt, vest, & bow tie. Spent $7 each (also on eBay) for Mickey bow ties (gotta march Dad!) and local tux shop had MM vests for $22 so all together was STILL less than renting & when they outgrow them, they (the suits, not the boys) will go back up on eBay.
