Tuxedo rental??

Hi,
We have a Dad and two boys who need a tuxedo, has anyone ever rented them from Disney? How much and did you have any trouble with them fitting correct?
I know they don't have to wear a tux but they want to.

http://www.cruiselineformal.com/ is the company that DCL contracts with. You may also want to consider buying tuxes on eBay - we got ours (self, DS9 & DS7) there for less than the cost of renting.

I really want my DH and DS to wear tuxes but DH doesn't think a lot of tuxes will be worn on the Disney Cruise. Someone please prove him wrong
Do a lot of Men wear them on Formal Nights? would you say 50% or more? MEN!!

There were quite a few wearing a tux on our last cruise. Just about half of the men in the dining room. Although many don't wear a tux, your crew will definitely not be out of place. I will be wearing one along with my DS4 on our upcoming cruise!

Well if your DH was on my cruise he would have been right. I saw more suits than tuxes. It definately was not >50% wearing tuxs. Not even close to 50%. I didn't wear a tux myself. No way do I want to rent clothes as I have no idea what went on in them beforehand. A black suit with white french cuff shirt and black tie and you really can't go wrong. Sort of the Brad Pitt/Tom Cruise Academy Award look.

i used cruise line formal, and everything went well: fit was good and comfortable. i didnt want to deal with traveling with a tux, so i went with the rental. i think you see more tuxes on the 7 day than the 3 or 4 day. on our cruise last march, there were at least 50% men in tuxes, which i was glad to see. its not too often you get to wear a tux!

The advantage of the suit is that you can have some more flexibility later in the week. Suit coat and slacks and cotton shirt for Palo's for example. If you are doing the 7 day you will likely have a semi-formal night as well. Simplly bring another shirt and tie and you're good to go.

Watching the People's Choice Awards tonight I'm seeing plenty of black suits and ties mixed with tuxes.

This is my personal experience from two previous cruises. Yes, you can rent a tuxedo from Disney, if you go on one of their 7-day cruises. The order form comes with your cruise documents. Frankly, I went all the way with what is called a "black and white." Black tuxedo jacket, white dinner jacket, two shirts, one or two pair of slacks, cummerbund, vest, one or two pair of socks, tie, studs (which I did not use), and cufflinks. Everything except the shoes, as I had a pair of black cowboy boots, which I wore. And all this for about $125.00.
The first time I cruised, I wore the white dinner jacket to the brunch at Palo's, and frankly, I was overdressed. The second time I cruised, I wore it to the 2nd formal dinner, and it worked out fine.
As for everything fitting, one of the first shirts did not fit, but, maybe that was because I tried to take the measurements myself. The second time, I had my travel agent take the measurements, and everything seemed to fit fine. Indeed, my measurements are on file with my travel agent, in case I ever need them again.
Men have seemed to have gotten out of the habit of dressing for dinner in a tuxedo, even on a formal night, but, if you can get all the men in your family to do it, go for it. You'll have a memory you'll treasure forever. And be sure to have the family's picture taken before dinner. Many people do that, then use the family picture in their Christmas cards. Enjoy your next cruise.

We used Cruiseline Formal and were very pleased. DH and DS had gone to a local tux shop to be measured, and when I called to order the tuxes the very knowledgeable woman caught that the measurements we had been given locally made no sense at all.

For boys up to size 18 they wear their normal clothing sizes in pants, shirt, and jacket. So you don't have to get the kids measured. DH's measurements also didn't make sense, and I ended up ordering by looking at the size on a suit he had just bought, I'm glad she had caught the discrepencies, or we would ahve looked like a circus act!

On our cruise 30-40% of the men were in tuxes. DH and DS looked SO nice in theirs, I was very glad we had ordered them. DH also took a suit for semi-formal night, Lumiere's and Palo's dinner. Palo's for brunch is dressy casual, DH wore an oxford shirt and slacks and was just right. If you want to wear the tux twice Palo's dinner it would be appropriate (I didn't want to push it with DH )

Hi, Just a bit of tux info-If you rent from the people that Disney suggest they have extra inventory on board ship. If there are any problems just call housekeeping and they will take care of it for you. I wouldn't wait till formal night though, check out the sizing as soon as your tux arrives in your stateroom.

we bought a used Tux from our local Tuxedo rental store. Tux, 2 shirts, suspenders, cumberbund, cufflinks, bowtie and shoes for $200. Tux is in great condition. Hubby has worn the tux on our 2 cruises with our third being in May, so we're saving money already! If you are a "cruiser" then it is worth the investment of buying instead of renting.

We've used Cruiseline Formal three times now- twice with Disney and once with Princess. DH was pleased with the service all three times. We just measured at home and submitted the measurements online. The fit was just right each time.

Each time, the tux and all accessories were delivered to our stateroom by our attendant by the end of embarkation day.

You might be able to save a little money by buying your own, but my DH felt like the absolute convenience of not needing to pack, haul, clean, press was well worth any extra $$. And he looked SO GREAT (!!) each time.

Dressing up just made the evenings seem extra special and festive. I found myself flirting with him a little more than usual!

Oh how I agree!! Renting makes for less to pack!! Also, a tux or a suit really needs a professional pressing after traveling, so renting makes it all the easier.

Would our boys look really out of place wearing their tux in the smi-formal night. We were hoping to use the tux both nights . Do people dress up a lot on that night two?

We saw a few tux's on semi-formal night, but not many. I wore a chiffon skirt/lace top, but DH and DS were both in suits and ties.

We all wore or tuxes (eBay) for formal night & on semi-formal, the boys wore their tux pants with their vests and I wore my tux pants with a different vest & a dinner jacket.
