HI

I got 2 questions!
Is a tux nessesary?
What time do you have to be at the ship? what time does it leave?

thanks
Sam

my understanding is that a tux is not necessary. I'm going on 7 night Eastern, am not packing a tux. I will bring a suit for DH, possibly a jacket for DS11 (but not for DSs 7). Frankly, I am starting to get a little excited about dressing the family up for dinner (but not enough to go ultra-formal!).

I'm sure folks can respond to the ratio of tux:suits:none they experienced on their formal nights.

Happy Planning!:sunny:

On all of my cruises I have never brought a tux. On Formal night I usually where a suit. On semiformal night, I usually where nice pants, with either a shirt and tie, or a shirt and a jacket. I have never felt underdressed with these outfits, so if you dont want to do the tux, dont!

You can start boarding the ship at 11:30....the ship leaves around 5pm

So a tux/suit is needed.
how long does it take to get to the ship from orlando?
we will be getting marrried so im just trying to plan arond my dates. so it may be worth keeping the tux for a week rental rather than hire another one just for the ship?
thanks

A suit is all you need not a tux. It takes about 1 hr. 15 min. to 1hr. 30 min. or so to get from the airport to the dock. This depends on traffic. This is going by limo. I think it does take longer if your going by bus. The drive waits until the bus is full.

A suit or a tux would be nice if you plan to participate in formal night. You will see both on formal night..and even both on semi formal night. Still a lot of suits on semi formal night, so you will definatley want at least a suit.

Enjoy!

Tux isn't a necessity. A suit will do just fine. I estimate thant 10-15% of men have tuxes for formal/semi-formal nights. The vast majority of men wear suits or sport jackets. You will even see some without a suit or jacket.

NOT!! I have the audacity to wear a dress shirt and tie to formal and semi formal nights. On the Mexicalli/Topicalli... nights I wear slacks and my "hawaiian" shirt. On the other nights is slacks and a polo shirt. Never felt out of place, but I'm sure that I ruined everyones dinner since I didn't "dress up" enough. Oh yeah I almost forgot - I also wore sandals with dark socks to every dinner on the Magic!!

Hakuna Matata!!

The ship leaves at 5:00, you must be onboard by 3:30 the latest, muster drill is at 4:00. Terminal opens about 10:30 and boarding will start roughly around noon. Takes approx 1 hour to get to port, but beware of potential traffic issues. Have fun!

A tux is definitely not a necessity.

However...

DH did not pack a tux, but our luggage was delayed and DCL offered to loan us formal wear. We took them up on the offer, bought princess dresses for the girls, and were SO GLAD we did. It was a lot of fun to have an excuse to dress up.

I doubt we would bother wearing formal wear if we ever go again, but we thought is was great last time.
