Tux at Palo???

OK, will everyone look at us like we are NUTS if we show up at Palo in formal attire? The Passporter says men should wear jacket and tie, more formal attire is welcome. Have you ever seen anyone do the tux-and-evening-gown thing at Palo???

Here is my alterior motive: DH is very handsom in his Dinner Dress Whites (military version of tux) & I hardly ever get to see him in it!! He's a bit concerned about turning into spectacle...the uniform usually gathers attention - but even more so if he's the only guy in the restaurant in a tux.

Any input would be helpful!

PS I told him maybe we would get special attention since he would look like one of the ship's officers!!!

My family and I will be on the Wonder in April. My husband and I will be celebrating our 5th anniversary the last day on the ship. He will be wearing a tux(his choice, hooray!!!), and I will be wearing a long formal gown when we dine at Palo. I am not worried about what other people will be wearing nor will I be worried about being overdressed. If you want to go all out formal, great for you!!!!

You know they might look at you like you are nuts and it may have nothing to do with the tux. Don't take it personally! It happened to us frequently for some reason.

Go for the Dress Whites!! On our cruise in May 2002 there were many military families aboard and a lot of the men wore their dress uniforms and they all looked spectacular. My dh bought a tux this year and he'll definitely be wearing it when we eat in Palo. HTH

I've eaten dinner in Palo in the company of two men wearing Tux's - it was nice!

That said, I've eaten dinner in Animators Palate with someone in a Tux - that was nice too, LOL (and this was on the Wonder - not formal night)

Cruising is about having fun - any attention he gets will be good attention so just enjoy

Although I have not been that formal at Palo.....I see no reason why you don't. You might get more looks of envy then anything else. Good luck.

I agree with what everyone has said so far; however, to answer your question we saw no one in a tux or ultra formal attire the night we ate at Palo, in fact, I was very disappointed at the lack of jackets and ties and some people in shorts! In all fairness, I do know from experience that if your luggage gets "misplaced" as DS's did for the first 5 days, people may not have the proper attire to wear in which case the "rules" could not be enforced. Have fun whatever you decide to wear.

Go to cruiselineformal.com. The price to rent a tux is $85.00, shoes are $6.00. This is where my husband will be getting his tux. Hope that this helps!!!!!!!

Nope, I've never seen anyone in a tux at Palo, but I would feel very honored to be with someone in their military dress whites. I think people would treat you more respectfully, if nothing else. I see lots of sport coats and some suits at Palo on the gentlemen, and most ladies tend to wear nice pant suits or cocktail dresses.

I enjoy dressing up, especially at Palo. Most people don't get the opportunity in our casual society, so I say go for it!
