I am going to take my oldest son alone to one meal in Epcot. Which one would you recommend? Looking at the menus, we would like either one. Also, we would be going at around 8pm, so which would we be able to see Illuminations from? Thanks in advance!

Our DS loves Teppn Edo. The chef really plays it up for the kids! The italian is OK. You can't see Illuminations from inside either. You can see from the sushi side of the building I think.

I would choose Teppan Edo. It's more entertaining than Tutto and the food at Teppan is really good!

We've never eaten at Tutto Italia...but maybe that's because we're always at Teppan Edo when we're in EPCOT! :lmao: It's a very entertaining meal, and one I think you both will enjoy. When you're done, you can walk out onto the balcony and watch Illuminations. The restaurant is on the second floor, so you automatically have a birds' eye view. :thumbsup2

Tutto is quite good, but Teppan Edo is one of the best places to eat in WDW

The food at both restaurants is very good. You should probably plan on getting reservations closer to 7 or 7:30, however. If for any reason you are seated late, you could wind up missing Illuminations at 9. The view from the deck at Mitsukoshi is really great, and our family has watched the show from there many times. That said, I notice that your older son is 12. Is he gregarious, or on the shy side? As a party of two, at Teppan Edo you will be seated around the grill with four to six other people. At Tutto you will have your own table. Something to consider. When my kids were tweeners, one would talk to anybody. anytime. The other was his polar opposite. Whichever you choose, have a great time!:stitch::eeyore:

Went to Tutto when it was Alfredo's. Good Italian food, but nothing spectacular. But if you want the table to be only you and your son pick Tutto.

We LOVE Teppan Edo, eat there every year even though we have similar places in Houston. Food quality is awesome and the chefs interactions are great. Fun to meet other people at table

We liked Tutto better than Teppan. We all thought the portions were better - however, if you were talking about Tokyo Dining I would say it's a more even toss up.

I don't think it's right to judge the current Tutto based on a visit to the old restaurant that was in the same location, jmo.

The new Tutto is considerably better. I did like it better for dinner than for lunch. If you go, DO look for the pink olives they give you when you sit down. They were like no other olives I've ever had anywhere else. The new Via Napoli next door was pretty good too , but Tutto was better.

If you are looking at online menus, then you won't get the complete menu for Toky Dining; as they offer many fresh sushi choices. Sushi is basically always dependent upon what's available and fresh, so those offerings change. I'm guessing that's why they aren't posted online. I also noticed recently that many - most - restaurant online menus also skip many of the beverage choices. Oh, and one more thing, if you are loking at any signature locations, those menus really change seasonally.

Our grandson is 6. When we take him to WDW and ask him where he wants to eat, his first response has always been....Japanese...Teppanedo. We have taken him 4 times since he was 3 and the response has always been the same.

We love Tutto but I think a 12 year old would love the show at Teppan. Unless you would be uncomfortable at a table with others

We have a fairly large party during most trips to WDW, so we've had most of what was onthe menu in our party. No matter what you order though, much of what you get is the same. They cook much of the meal communally - like the veggies. As I recall, it basically only the meat that gets cooked individually, and if you have a vegetarian in your group they will cook that person's veggies away from any meat.

The one thing I also recall was that the miso soup at all the places in Epcot is not particularly good, as miso soup goes. If you get any sushi, that is pretty good. We always try to get an order of edamame (steamed soybeans); tey are alwasy popular inour family. At WDW, steamed veggies are a bit limited - so it's a great opportunity to have something tasty and healthy.

We have only tried Tutto and it was one of the better meals on our last trip.
