I am a trivia nerd and I just learned two things that made me think "now, that's pretty cool" but nobody in my life seems to think so - SO I wanted to tell all my DIS buds to see what you think:

1. The architect Frank Lloyd Wright is the person who thought of and invented (with the help of his father) Lincoln Logs. Frank's middle name at the time was Lincoln (he later changed it to Lloyd to honor his mother as that was her maiden name.) So they aren't named after Abraham Lincoln at all!

2. The famous artist Salvador Dali created the design with Chupa Chupas Pops! He was a friend of the family of the owners of the lollipop co.

So , cool? Or am I am biggest nerd in the world? :rotfl:

Don't feel bad, I like trivia also. I had heard about the Lincoln Logs, but not the other.

Well, what do you know, that's kind of interesting. I always assumed Lincoln Logs were for Abraham Lincoln. I had never heard of the Frank Lloyd Wright connection. Interesting...

I knew the one about Lincoln Logs and I too thought it was pretty cool trivia. So you are not alone in your nerd-dom.

Not that you should believe everything you read in Wikipedia...

Lincoln Logs were invented in 1916 by John Lloyd Wright, a son of the notable architect Frank Lloyd Wright. In 1918, they were marketed by the Red Square Toy Company and by John Lloyd Wright, Incorporated of Chicago, Illinois. While it is often assumed that the name of the toy relates to President Lincoln, it is also a reference to the inventor's father since the given middle name of F.L. Wright was Lincoln. Wright dropped the name Lincoln when his father abandoned the family and adopted the name Lloyd, the maiden name of his mother but Wright uses the initials FLLW on his seal and red tiles, thereby acknowledging his given middle name. Lincoln Logs originally came with instructions on how to build Uncle Tom's Cabin as well as Lincoln's log cabin.
