We would be doing midday meal. One son hates buffets but I am hesitant to jump to a $67 + tax +grat for a lunch time meal.

Can anyone tell me about the food on the buffet? Also anyone who did Tiffins for lunch, was it worth the extra cost for a lunch meal?

The buffet is pretty varied. There will be carved meats, meat and tofu curries, potatoes and vegetables on the hot bar, a variety of prepared salads, fruits, etc. There are also plain cut veggies, deli meats, corn dog nuggets, etc. for those who avoid spice.

We found the food to be among the best buffet chow at Disney. I loved the curry.

Does the ROL dining package at Tusker House require only 1 credit on the DDP? That seems like a decent deal!

If paying OOP, I'd go with Tiffins.

If on the DDP, I'd probably go with Tusker.
If paying OOP, wouldn't Tusker be a lot less money?? I understand that cost and value are different, but just wondering why Tiffins might strike you as the better choice out of pocket?

2 credits for a $67 meal is a poor use of them. You have to take into account the "value" a credit has on your plan (DDP vs Dx).

Think of it this way. Would you rather pay out of pocket to eat at Tusker House AND Akershus, or would you rather use the credits on those and pay out of pocket for Tiffin's? If you have enough dining credits to cover all meals this is a moot issue, but often you don't!

Are there any specifics about the Tiffins package? Seems like it may be a good deal if you're not on the dining plan and if you're able to choose ANYTHING from the appetizer, entree and dessert menu. Including a drink, it seems like you could "make out" on the deal if, as an example, the wagyu beef is $53 on its on (and it's delicious, I might add).

People have intimated that the RoL dining package is the same as the Jungle Book Fiasco dining package, which allowed you to choose 1 appetizer, 1 entree, 1 dessert, and 1 non-alcoholic beverage from the normal menu.

I agree on the price vs. credit usage not being great, but you're still coming out ahead with the ROL package on the regular DDP vs. a non-ROL package meal at Tiffins. You don't usually get an appetizer on the regular DDP.
But yeah, $67 OOP would be a great deal on the meal if you're getting the Waygu beef.

As someone who hates buffets, it doesn't matter what's served, the whole idea is gross. Some people love them - for me? #shudders

Do we still receive the 20 percent off for annual pass members if booking the tiffins dining package?

Matter of personal taste but, for me, the OOP value is better for the Tiffins ROL package than it is than it is for the Tusker ROL package. I'd rather pay $67 for a signature quality meal that includes an app, entree, dessert, than $52 for a buffet (I'm all about quality over quantity so, for me, the difference is money well spent, especially when you consider that you could easily spend more than $67 to have a 3 course meal at Tiffins without the package).

I haven't seen any news about either TS accepting discounts on the ROL packages. Are discounts available on the Fantastic ones? For some reason I didn't think they were included.

I would not think so (like you don't get a discount on the Fantasmic Dining Package). If you can snag a FP+ you'd be better off booking a lunch at Tiffins with the 20% AP discount and using a FP+ for the show.

If it the same as Jungle book we both saved 3-5 a meal by booking the Jungle book package. Now if we had ordered the wagyu it would have been even more of a savings. It is hard not to at least break even at Tiffins or be a dollar or two shy of the price for the package. I'd gladly pay every time a buck or two more on my meal if it included a FP.

Thanks, I appreciate this very much. Maybe have to rethink this a bit, and study the Tiffins menu!

Did the JB Dining Package with Tusker House in Aug 2016 and still ended up sitting in one of the last rows of the theater so IMO it may not be worth it for "good seating" if you can show up early or use a FP+ for RoL. We thoroughly enjoyed the TH meal, food was yummy and characters were fantastic and would have eaten there regardless of dining package. I say look at where would you rather eat based on menu and determine if it's even worth using the credits or paying OOP
