Has anyone been to the Tusker House lunch since it reopened? I'm wondering how kid friendly the food is (other than the mac and cheese). Is there anything not on the menu that can be requested (sometimes I've seen this with chicken nuggets or french fries, for example). Thank you!

A friend of mine who has a 6 and 10 year old said they loved the food as-was. And they are not usually the most adventurous eaters (but she also doesn't put ideas that they might not like something into their head ahead of time).

Given that they don't share a kitchen, I'd be surprised if they had the capacity to make other items. Normally the suggestion would be to feed them QS ahead of time, but since this is a family-style AYCTE, they would be charged for taking up a place.

Update - we went today for lunch and I asked if it was possible to request chicken nuggets. They brought us a big plate with both chicken nuggets and french fries!
Thanks for this update. Was getting ready to cancel our TH reservation because my daughter is a picky eater. It’s great to know this is an option.

Just returned from Disney World and eat a dinner at TH. We thought it was overpriced and the food was just Okay. One thing that really turned us was there was 4 adults in our party and we were only served 3 desserts which we ended up sharing, instead of asking for more, and my husband asked for coffee and they served it in a take out cup. A take out cup, we weren't ready to leave, it was like they were pushing us out. Service was poor. We have always gone for breakfast and never dinner and have always enjoyed our experience. We won't be going back again unless they start doing breakfast again before the park opens.

On another note we also ate at "Be Our Guest" and it was wonderful, a great experience.

It's very common for guests to ask for coffee to go at the AYCTE restaurants. I doubt they were pushing you out, just trying to preemptively accommodate a frequent request. Disney may have decided to forego ceramic cups and always serve after meal coffees in to-go cups now, I don't know.

Since all the food is pre-plated and the servers just grab it, the standard must be to give parties of four the plate of three desserts to share. I'm not sure why that would turn you off at an AYCTE meal; you could have asked for another serving.

How were the characters?

Tusker House has Donald, Daisy, Mickey, and Goofy.
We ate at Tusker House yesterday. They offered corn dogs as an option for my picky eater but she decided she wanted to try the same food as the adults. She liked the Mac n cheese and pork the most. We had a good experience and the dinner was the highlight of our day at Animal Kingdom. It was great to have a table service lunch in the middle of a hot and crowded day. We had plenty of food and we’re promptly given extras of anything we asked for. The character interaction was great. For dessert I asked for the chocolate mousse option and it was brought to us in addition to the the three standard desserts. The food was very good, although definitely on the more adventurous side. We enjoyed it very much. It was expensive but we knew that going in and even my picky eater left satisfied.

We felt like we were be pushed out, the server tried to take my son's plate several times before he was completely finished eating. And the take out cup was placed inside a regular mug, why not just put the coffee in the regular mug. Also, with the dessert there were 4 of us to share three small desserts, why not bring 2 plates of desserts instead of 1. I don't usually complain but we were not happy with our experience at TH on this last trip.

The characters were good, looking forward to the time that we'll be able to stand next to the characters again. Photos aren't as good with the characters in a distance.
