We really enjoy a lunch or dinner of rotisserie chicken ,mashed potatoes and fresh green beans at the Tusker House. I am sad to see that it is turning into a buffet restaurant. I hope somewhere else will serve their food.

There really isn't an appropriate location for the food they serve, except Tusker House itself. I suspect that you'll still be able to get your favorites there, just in a more service-oriented atmosphere. :thumbsup2

I'm sorry to see it turning into a buffet, too. :( I've always enjoyed breakfast there.

I'm a big breakfast person, and after the Crystal Palace, Tusker House was my favorite Disney breakfast...and it had the added benefit of a little peace and quiet.

Add us to the roster of those who lament the forthcoming change at Tusker House. Its quick-serve status was a misnomer of sorts. While you had to stand in line to get your meals, the food was always better than expected; in fact, the Tusker House salmon was consistently superior to Narcoossee's, for example. And the Tusker House prices were reasonable.

When will it be changing? My grandson would love the chicken and mashed potatoes.

:sad2: :sad2: I am sooo sad. The salmon from Tusker was one of my favorite things to eat at Disney. I also loved the atmosphere at Tusker. My family and I will miss it!!

We'll miss it as well. We had a great experience there, from start to finish.

Here's hoping the new buffet format will offer at least as pleasant of an experience.

Tusker House will be closed from August 20 until November 17th

I can't remember where I found that tidbit, but it's in my Disney Word file

As far as we know now, the salmon will still be offered, and the atmosphere may, if anything, be better. :confused3

Here is another vote to keep the salmon. It is on my 10 year old son's list of "must eats" every time we go to Disney!

Compared to most other counter service places to eat at Disney, I like this one. I guess it is the very quiet outside eating area. It is always a great place to relax, unwind, and get away from all the crowds for awhile. :goodvibes

This is really the only counter service meal we ever ate at Disney. My DH is heartbroken as the salmon was his favorite. I loved the chicken. If it turns into a buffet, I hope they have some of the same food choices.

I too am sad - but still need a place to eat lunch at a counter service restaurant in AK. Where should we go?

I find buffets to be repulsive, germy, and expensive (considering how little I eat typically), and I will never go back to the Tusker House as a result of the change. I will miss the food.

Pizzafari if you want to eat indoors, Flame Tree BBQ if you don't mind eating outdoors (I despise eating outdoors so now I'm stuck with Pizzafari).

New AK restaurant is under construction- The Yak & Yeti.

Don't have any idea what it will serve though or dining style.

Has anyone been to any restaurant the day before it was scheduled to close? We will be in WDW the day before Tusker House closes the next day. Do you think they will still prep their food the same way?

Until we know what they'll be serving the next day, it is hard to guess.
