We like the food at both places but have found that the children's meals for our kids are too small at Yak & Yeti. We have two hearty and adventureous eaters so in addition to the chicken strips, mashed potatoes and green beans they will eat bobotie, watermelon rind salad and a few other dishes.
My DD will be 10 later this year so she will finally be an adult on the meal plan and DS still has 4 years to go. So I still foresee lots of buffets for us.
I would go with Yak & Yeti. I really enjoyed the food there and the restaurant's themeing is amazing!
The food is a bit adventurous, but if your kids like Chinese food you should be fine.

I'd go with Tusker House. I've reads lots of reviews on both places, and I have been to the Tusker House and I can 100% recommend this place. The Tusker House has great variety and it is a buffet. I could have personally made a meal out of the hummus and dips at one of the carts, they were so delicious. In my signature there's a link to my dining reviews, and I reviewed the Tusker House.
The service was also fairly decent and we left absolutely stuffed out of our minds.
They do have a very limited children's menu. We went last year w/ a 4, 2 & 1 year old. The adult menu was amazing. Everyone LOVED their entrees, it was my favorite sit down. That being said, this year I have decided to go to Tusker House for lunch instead. The kids will be able to eat much more than the pressed chicken nuggets and a scoop of rice. The Tusker House appears to have a pretty good menu, too. Check the menus at allears!
It looks like it's very limited: Kids Menu
I don't have kids, but I did see a lot of kids there.
In looking at the Tusker House menu, it looks like you will have a lot more options for the kids there.
I love both of these restaurants, and find it so hard to choose so on our next trip we are going to do both (as we did our last trip). Tusker House does provide many more choices for kids, so if that is a consideration for you, I would choose that restaurant over Y&Y.
With kids, you might be better of at TH. However, DH and I ate at both in December 09 and preferred YY. The service and ambiance were great, and we loved the food. At TH, food was hit or miss (I only liked the prime rib and desserts; the sides were not good to me), and the place was sooo loud.
We've not tried Tusker House (isn't that a buffet? -- we don't do lunch/dinner buffets unless it is Biergarten). We have done Yak & Yeti and we absolutely loved it (it was the second best meal of our trip in 2008...LeCellier was our best).
I had the same dilema last year! We ended up going with Yak & Yeti and absolutely loved it! It was my favorite meal on the trip and it was my DB's second favorite meal. The service and atmosphere were also excellent. the only negative comment would be that it was so freezing that we had to put on our jackets.
That way everyone gets something they like, as it is the buffet. I now a lot of people like Yak and Yeti, but the only thing I liked were the pineapple cream cheese wantons.
