Tusker House or Hollywood and Vine

Going early December and want to do one character meal. Trying to narrow it down... Would you do Tusker House or Minnie's Holiday Dine at Hollywood and Vine?

If I was going strictly for the characters and Christmas Holiday time experience, then the Holiday Dine.

I will agree with @brertoad if you're wanting something Christmas themed.

If you want great characters and great food, I vote for Tusker House.

Tusker House is where Donald drew a villains mustache on the Mickey Mouse in my autograph book. Probably the best character meal I've been to for interaction.

I think you'd be happy with either. Food wise for us Tusker beat H&V for quality and selection of food. Character interaction is a wash. Both were excellent, but if forced to pick I'd give the slight edge to H&V. The characters were amazing the night we were there. Atmosphere no comparison, Tusker House all the way.

We did both in December of 2015. Honestly, I preferred H&V. Loved the Christmas theme and we felt the character interaction was much better there.

I’m in the minority and not overly impressed with Tusker House.

I'm the kind of person that just cannot go to a restaurant solely based off the characters present with no regard to the quality of the food. I myself cannot stand the quality of food at H & V. Now the Tusker House is one of the few buffets that I would rate the food at least average and the characters are a lot of fun. My vote is Tusker House in a landslide.

Tusker House was one of the few restaurants that didn’t leave me disappointed on our last trip. I will probably go there every trip from now on if the quality remains the same. It was great food and a fun experience.

(Sorry....have never done the other one, but I don’t think you would be disappointed with Tusker House).

We prefer the food at H&V at Christmas time, actually, but I am a sucker for all the Thanksgiving/Christmas fixings (carving station turkey with cranberry sauce, stuffing and green bean casserole.... mmm) and pumpkin and eggnog desserts and german christmas cookies. The roast chicken with buffalo sauce and seafood mac n cheese were also yummy.

If you have very young children you will have to suck it up and go to H&V (just don't try the food). If its just a character breakfast go with Tusker House great food and interaction. We did one breakfast there close to lunch and the number of people inside was greatly reduced, There is nothing like having characters sit down next to you and pretend to eat, However if you have very young one H&V has characters you will not find anywhere else.

I have a 2 yo son... so both it is... we are doing Minnie's seasonal dine for lunch at H&V and hopefully I can salvage the day with an amazing evening TS meal lol.. we are doing a Tusker House dinner the day we are at AK

I am going to Tusker because of the rave reviews.. and H&V for the characters.. not many places you can see the fab 5 in their holiday finest!!!!

Ugh.. I am so torn... The atmosphere (meaning the characters in holiday outfits) really is attracting me to Hollywood and vine, but is that enough to justify eating there? Not too many good reviews of the food at Hollywood and Vine :/

I am one of the people who really dislike H&V but I have to tell you there are good and bad reviews of all of WDW's restaurants. I use Ohana as an example. Its my families favorite restaurant but several people who post here hate the place and respect their reviews a lot. I do tell people to pay attention to the parts about service but ultimately you should try some of these places and make up your own mind. And where people are from also color their reviews. I lot of people love Homecomings. Well I come from the deep South and find their chicken to be very average to below average and the reviewers who love the place? Well they can be correct to.

I actually cancelled and rescheduled my H&V adr about 3 times for this exact reason... but then I thought when will I ever see these characters dressed like this?? Probably never... and it's a lunch buffet.. can it all be that bad?? Doubtful.. like PP said... everyone has their own opinion.. and you know what they say about opinions right??? Lol... I decided to book it.. I know my son will love it.. and we will be able to get a family photo with Santa Goofy!!!
I will note that I lucked out with free dining and upgraded to the ddp... so I am paying a highly discounted cost for the meal... read some reviews on trip advisor and yelp.. Google seasonal dine review... they all show pics of food.. everything looks edible lol.. and mickey and minnie walking around makes everything taste better!! Lol.. I already told my DH that I made 1 ADR I'm not sure I'm gonna regret.. but it's for the characters and the kiddo...and we both agreed it's worth a try! Do you already have an ADR? Because another note.. for such a low reviews place it is booked up pretty solid thru my entire vaca!!

Yes, I do have an ADR for both Hollywood and Vine AND Tusker House! Would make it a lot easier if I couldn't get one of them.. haha
