Tusker House or Hollywood and Vine

Yes, I do have an ADR for both Hollywood and Vine AND Tusker House! Would make it a lot easier if I couldn't get one of them.. haha

Well I guess we could.. however, we are trying to save $ and had decided on just one character/sit down meal.

I think if you will regret skipping one then if it is in the budget splurge a little and do both- do a TH breakfast and H&V lunch or dinner- the breakfast meals are significantly less expensive.. I'm sorry I cant help more.. I had way too hard of a time trying to only pick 1 myself lol!

I am one of the people who really dislike H&V but I have to tell you there are good and bad reviews of all of WDW's restaurants. I use Ohana as an example. Its my families favorite restaurant but several people who post here hate the place and respect their reviews a lot. I do tell people to pay attention to the parts about service but ultimately you should try some of these places and make up your own mind. And where people are from also color their reviews. I lot of people love Homecomings. Well I come from the deep South and find their chicken to be very average to below average and the reviewers who love the place? Well they can be correct to.

I think this really hits the nail on the head. Just like you say with Homecomings, we have very good indian/african food where we live, and Tusker House's food really falls flat by comparison. I think I would enjoy it more if I didn't know what that curry SHOULD taste like and wish it was more authentic.

I think another thing to consider is that Tusker House is quite consistent at all meals, year round, but the H&V menu changes a lot, which may add to the variability in reviews. Minnie's Holiday Dine seems to garner more favorable reviews than the non-holiday menus they have the other three quarters of the year (and I agree, I prefer the holiday menu, but I still did not think the summer options were bad, just not as good). Also, the breakfast at H&V is consistently reviewed as terrible, whereas lunch and dinner food is much, much better. Akershus has the same issues with a much better dinner menu than breakfast. If you follow Disney Tourist Blog at all, I thought it was spot on, and kind of funny, that H&V lunch/dinner is ranked highly in their Best Character Meals blog post, and H&V breakfast is in their Worst Character Meals post.

We LOVED Akershaus breakfast.. characters and food.. Ate there a few years ago on Thanksgiving, and well.. that meal wasn't very good. Wouldn't do it again.
